Watching Sec. Ridge's reaction to the 'red' question lead me to believe that the 'red' option was discussed, just not put in place at this time.

I got the same impression. What would it take for a "red alert"?

On Fox news they are talking about stinger missiles shooting down aircraft while on MSNBC they are talking about bombs being planted on aircraft. Either one would raise the level to red, IMO.

real intel, like the kind of stuff you see on "24" with Jack Bauer, someone telling the CIA or FBI in person or with a direct intercept that an operation was in progress or imminent. like had we captured Mousaoui on 9/9 or 9/10 and he was spilling his guts.
