We just got back from a seven day cruise. Everything was wonderful with the exception of two things. Pushy, rude New York old ladies (what is with that?) and CNN INT was the only news we had.
I had never been subjected to CNN INT. but let me tell you, it makes no bones about being as anti-bush and anti-American as you can possibly get. We were at sea when the news about Sadaam being apphrended came on CNN. I had refused to watch it but heard passengers discussing it and relented and turned it on.
I have questions -
how much money does CNN spend, to get these "man on the street" interviews? It must take days to find that slight minorty of people that would have the reactions of those they interviewed. Or do they have them in a database to reuse again and again?
When did the slums in Palestine become the "average reaction of arab people"?
There were 52 nationalities on board our ship, so I did an impromptu man on the street interview with those on the ship. I interviewed both passengers and crew members.
1. Are you happy that Sadaam has been caught? 100% said Yes.
2. Do you believe he should stand trial for killing his own citizens? 100$ said yes.
4. Do you believe that he is guilty? 80% yes 5% no, 20% - I don't know
5. Do you believe that the war in Iraq was justified? 75% yes - 20% - no 5% I don't know.
6. Is George Bush doing a good job on fighting terror?
75%-yes - 25%-no

On the other side of the coin, you see news in other countries that the American presss will ignore.

Don't tell anyone, but a ouple of years ago we stayed with friends in the east of France. We liked to watch the news and CNN International was the only choice in English. The hosts couldn't wait for us to finish so they could watch the Laker game. LOL! The said they counldn't watch CNN because it was extremist in it's criticism of the US.

Yep, I've had this unpleasant experience on business trips to Europe, where CNN International is often the only English cable news channel in the hotel. Thank goodness for Internet news - I don't have to put up with such garbage any more.

By watching CCN Int., you get what CNN really thinks about the world - a globalist view/agenda.

Everything (on the cruise) was wonderful with the exception of two things. Pushy, rude New York old ladies (what is with that?) . . . Something apparently happens to change the psychology of NYC natives when they go elsewhere, but especially on crusies. There was a time when cruise lines stopped promoting cruises in NYC because the behavior was so bad nearly everyone else on the cruise ship complained about the rudeness.
I live in NYC for awhile some years ago and found most natives ok once you got to know them.

Pushy NY mother-in-law bump
Going to a restaurant with her is pure h#ll. In order to ease my guilt by association, I take the waiter aside and GUARANTEE he will get tipped better than most if he can keep his cool.
This woman asks for extra bread and in the same breath a doggie bag for the bread.

What don't you make sure you can freep where ever you go? I mean really - what's important

"pushy, rude New York old ladies"
Unfortunately, they're not all in new York. I've noticed a favorite ploy of older women in grocery stores is to pretend they don't notice the "10 items or less" sign, then they try to unload their stuff before the clerk notices, so the clerk will let them proceed rather than make them put everything back in the basket.

But don'tcha know that the 'humiliating' videotape of him being examined HUMANELY by a doctor is, well, just TOO MUCH. We have to spin this into something ugly, and the press is more than ready to do it. I made a sarcastic comment when I watched the doctor examining Saddam, saying somehow this would be spun negatively, and I only had 20 minutes to wait until Aaron Brown opened his sickening mouth and said as much. Now they are harping on 'where's Bin Laden'? Ask Crusty.

When was that? And what cruise lines did this?Ok, I was in the city from '79 through about '85. I remember there being a story addressing this in one of the "news" magazines (Time, Newsweek, etc.) actually saw the same issue presented more than once. Per the cruise line I don't recall, but will guess it was Carnival or Holland-American. Been too long ago for details. Best I can do.

You don't have to watch the Communist News Network International to get this. I was in Indianapolis about a week ago and the resturant I was eating in had CNN on the tv. In the span of an hour they had a 10 minute piece on how wonderful Howard Dean was, a 5 minute hit piece on a Republican, 15 minutes on how the Florida democrap convention was wonderful, another 5 minute hit piece on a Republican, 10 minutes on how the anti-war protestors are good for America, and 10 munutes on why tax cuts and Bush are really bad for the economy.

I've had older men do this too. It's all I can do to not comment, but it's not worth the confrontation (which is what they are counting on.)

We are becoming Cruise fanatics too, and we have the same problem with CNN INT. I complained about it in the Spring when the war broke out and we were on a cruise. I tried to talk to the cruise line to give us a choice of FOX or CNN but they say it is in a satellite contract. I wonder if we need to get a mass mailing going to force them to change? Not sure how to do that. I even invested in an XM Satellite Radio boom box, but couldn't take it the last cruise because it made my suitcase too heavy and I was afraid that it would get stollen. WHAT ARE WE GOING TO DO?
I'm at a loss at this point.
