Looks like a carbomb in an isolated area.

Are there ever any small explosions in Baghdad?
To: TomGuy
I doubt from looking at that picture that there was any structural damage. Car bombs that take down buildings are usually pick up trucks or trucks, and those trucks are usually almost vaporized. Every once in a while car bombs go off in SouthEast Spain and they injure some people but don't cause fatalities.

After we killed Uday and Kusay (sp?), the fedayeen went on a killing spree. I'm sure they do the same now.

NBC footage seems to show it didn't damage anything. Except for the car, of course.

Fortunately President Bush made sure to say this won't be the end of the violence over there. He was making sure they couldn't tag him again like they did over his statement that the major part of the war ended on the carrier. He has learned they will twist his words and use them against him.

Charlie Gibson on ABC quoting Reuters:
This was an explosion of fuel canisters on the bed of a truck. NOT A TERRORIST ATTACK.
It's very likely this had something to do with all the rounds being fired into the air in celebration, IMHO.

Scary thought: Saddam's capture was the "sign" for some terrorist cells to unleash their worst... let's just hope their worst is car-bombs, and not WMD's.

You call that a fire?
I'd like to see a couple of hundred fedayeen all light themselves on fire simultaneously-- that would really show me something!!! I double dog dare them!

So soon after President Bush's speech? No, this was not an accident but a deliberate attempt to deflect attention from what Bush said. If anything, it reconfirms what Bush said, that we must be careful because the war on terror continues.

Nevertheless, let me predict the delivery, "A car bomb following immediately on the heels of the President's speech only marks the increasing tension in Iraq, as the violence mounts. The Iraqi resistance is making it evident that the capture of Hussein WILL NOT in any way lessen the attacks on coalition forces, increasingly seen as brutal occupiers...."

maybe the liberals will join them, after all they are after the same thing
In any even what a bunch of poor sports. Sure take your bombs and blow them up.
I hope our guys remain safe cause this is probably the begining of the end.

Next thing you know, they'll be overturning police cars.
This is the closest the Iraqis will ever come to knowing what it feels like to win the Superbowl.
Let the kids play.
