SADDAM HUSSEIN CAPTURED
Former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein has been captured in his home town of Tikrit, according to reports.
There has been no independent verification of the news but Sky New's Foreign Editor Tim Marshall says the source of the news is usually reliable.
The US Defence Department says it has had no confirmation of the claims, which come from Iraqi Kurd leader Jalal Talabani, says the Iran news agency IRNA.
Hundreds of exultant people have taken to the streets of Kirkuk, firing weapons into the air in celebration.
A press conference has been announced for 12pm GMT.
In Baghdad, a spokeswoman for the US-led operation notified reporters that a "very important" announcement will be made at the press conference.

They will decrease quite alot!!!Perhaps, for a while. In the long run, I'm not so sure, and I'd be awfully careful of what ammo I gave the media/left. Remember how they twisted the President's words on the aircraft carrier when he said the major combat phase over...he never said the war was over.

Brett Baer of Fox News is reporting that Saddam was captured in a basement in a building in Tikrit. Brett says that the U.S. Gov has in the last 20 minutes that they are doing DNA testing. Tips came from locals. Iraqis are celebrating.

We should turn him loose, at Noon, in downtown Baghdad. With appropriate notice given.
If his own people didn't kill him before, what makes you think they would now?

Yes, she sounds so terribly disappointed... These reports must have hit her and much of the media extremely hard, we should show a little compassion for them (not!)...

FOXNews was way late in reporting this, and initially much more cautious, (I'm sure to cover their failure to be first). MSNBC was first, then CNN, then FOX. But FOX's Britt Baer in Chicago, and Greg Palcotte(sp) in Baghdad, are providing excellent information.
Cheers for the 4th Infantry Div!!!!!
