The New England Journal of Medicine reports that men who smoke risk cutting 7.3 years off their lives. Oxford University's International Journal of Epidimiology, 1997, reports "...Life expectancy at age 20 years for gay and bisexual men is 8 to 20 years less than for all men...nearly half of gay and bisexual men currently aged 20 years will not reach their 65th birthday. Judging by the years at risk, homosexual activity is up to three times deadlier than smoking. As well, Between The Lines, Michigan's statewide gay newspaper reports the risk of anal cancer "soars" by nearly 4,000% for men who have sex with men. Pap smears for women have dropped the risk of cervical cancer by 75% , from 40-50 per 100,000 to 8 to 10 per 100,000. Even if a pap smear for gay and bisexual men is ever developed, not looking likely at present, a similiar drop of 75% would still mean that men who have sex with increase their odds of developing anal cancer by 800%. Between The Lines states that a condom only offers limited protection against developing anal cancer.

This must be a compound probability; I recall reading the % chance for the receiving end of anal sex (female or male) is huge compared to the risk for females being with hiv-positive guy front-side.

This should be just as the article says, a reason why homosexuality should NOT be promoted as a "safe" or "alternative" or "ok" lifestyle. Entering into this lifestyle one would find themselves among men who are 320% more likely than heterosexuals to have unprotected sex WITHOUT telling their partners they're HIV positive.
