Conservatives are now the "Blacks" of the Republican Party

In a discussion on this thread Tom Ridge's Immigration Remarks Draw Fire a post regarding the conservative angst about the recent campaign finance reform that Bush signed into law and that the Supreme Court approved (and the approval was praised by the White House), on the heals of the Medicare entitlement enacted under a Republican controlled government the following was posted:

I'm hearing Rush now. He claims the republicans have ONLY one party to go to. He has put this issue squarely on the problem. We need to vote outside of this corrupt party apparatus.

I also heard this on Rush and my blood boiled. Rush said conservatives have no place else to go and thus will continue to vote as a block to the Republicans.....and then it hit me. That is exactly what we conservatives lament about Blacks and the Democratic party. Black Democrats who vote straight Democratic and are rewarded by being ignored.

In other words, Conservatives are now the "Blacks" of the Republican Party!!!

I urge the same solution to Republican conservatives that Black conservatives offer to Black Democrats. QUIT! Become independents and let the parties fight for our votes. If we can't take the GOP back we should leave the GOP.

I did not change. My party did. I thank God Ronald Reagan is unable to comprehend what is happening to the party he saved.

Also, Clinton was reelected and there was nobody to "take votes" away from the Republicans. What's your excuse for this?

You guys gave Clinton the incumbancy for the 96 election.

The 'pubs fielded a dead horse, that's what.
geesh, some old geezer who refers to himself in the third-person.
Dole had "LOSER" tattooed on his forehead from day one of that campaign.
Clinton, with his sickening smarm, ate his lunch.
A cinderblock would have done better.
On top of his lack of personality, Dole had no distinctive agenda.
baaaaaaad political strategy on the part of the GOP.

I concede nothing to you.

Of course you did.

The real illusion is your masquerade as a conservative.

I'm not a political conservative and have never pretended to be one. So much for that particular lie.

Real conservatives don't have to be scared into voting against Dean/Hillary.

Real conservatives don't vote against bugaboo tickets which do not exist. They vote for conservative principles. Tough guy threats from heros like you don't scare them.

You are a troll for Dean/Clinton.

LOL, good stuff. That will convince people to your position.

Your objective is to defeat Bush.

My objective is to defend the constitution, where ever it leads, and no matter how many people who do not have to be exposed.

You don't care if Dean wins and we lose the war.

LOL,, and there is another added insult. The charge that I'm against something or other you think will paint me in a bad light. Nice try son.

I think you have made enough friends for your cause today,,take ten deep breaths. LOL

Serving in the military does not necessarily equate to hero. Wesley Clark comes to mind.

By that of course, I mean a unifying figure who can get elected; not someone who'll expand the central government's power over the states à la the first Lincoln.

We need somebody who will govern within the bounds of the US-Constitution and not usurp powers, spend money without the People's consent, etc.

You mention CFR and Medicare entitlement, but you forgot to mention Bush's ban on Florida offshore drilling and wimping out on ANWR. Oh, don't forget Bush let Ted Kennedy write the Education Bill.

Ok you Conservatives! ...to the back of the bus! and now!

I used the term sarcastically. He is no hero, he is a wimp. Hiding behind a keyboard calling other people cowards. He thinks they will be impressed enough to change their mind, see the error of their ways and vote as he tells them to because he calls them names.

I think he may be mentally disturbed, but, it's irrelevant.

"Conservatives told the GOP "screw you" and stayed home or voted for Perot, etc. Now the GOP is looking to the center for votes and conservatives wonder why." ___________________________________ Your argument is that they realize they lost their base in the '92 election and just gave up? The rational response to losing your base would have been to stop pissing off your base! The truth is that the Republican party is too stupid to realize their mistake in the '92 election.

I think the title and the tone of the article is repulsive. If you don't like the GOP get the heck out. The democrats love TRAITORS they will gladly take you under their wing.

LOL - the phone always seems to ring just as I'm getting soap in my eyes, actually ;)

The main point I want to make is that ultimatums are a very dangerous business - there's a risk that people will find out that you're not really capable of carrying out your threats, and that you're just bluffing. And if people ever figure that out about you, you are seriously screwed, with a capital-"S".

Fortunately, I think that people who are absolutely rigid and unwilling to compromise are, for all practical purposes, non-existent - the vast majority of people will accept some sort of compromise, so the issue then is hammering out a compromise that acceptable to everyone. Maybe there isn't one, in which case, the divorce might as well come sooner rather than later. I suspect there is one lurking in there somewhere, though, but the first step to getting there is in realizing that if the libs get in, we all lose, and that while getting everything you want is best of all, getting something is better than getting nothing. People who demand the whole loaf or nothing at all have a habit of starving, essentially.

What we probably need a long list of thousands of Conservative voters who will promise NOT to vote for Georgie II in 2004 unless he dumps Karl Rove, PUBLICLY.

Its not like we're putting Rove out of work. With his experience, he could easily work for Wesley Clark, Dick Gephard,or even Dean.
