The American Soldier.
You beat me to it.
But maybe we should split the prize: Dubya and The American Soldier.
After all, writer/historian Stephen Ambrose named The American Soldier
"Man of The Twentieth Century" (on a Dec. 31st, 1999 show).

Nomination - Free Republic - Men/Women of the year:
The Enlisted Men & Women ~ American Military!
Hands down, no if's, and's or but's.
Bravo Zulu to all of them!

Sandra Day O'Connor for her comment about respecting "international law" when she is supposed to be interpreting the Constitution, and for generally being a silly socialist fellow traveler.
Just one more Constitutionalist vote on the USSC, just one more...

May I nominate MeeknMing. From what I've seen in my stay here, he seems to be the keeper of the mother of all ping lists. It appears he is summoned to every thread of import in the News/activism forum. And usually has an entertaining reply.
In runner-up spot I would like to nominate Dan Hooker.
Thank you.
Tim.

"Sergeant First Class Paul Ray Smith. Posthumously awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor for service above and beyond the call of duty in Iraq."
I read the article on Smith (posted long ago on FR) to my nine-year old son the other day. He wants to use it for a newspaper report on a current event. Not sure how current it is. Any idea when Smith was awarded the medal? (Google here I come!)
