Rest In Peace. He was a "nice well meaning" fellow. Wrong on most things, but nice and well meaning.

Hannity was really flumouxed announcing this. He stuttered around and ended up saying something like;"well, anyway, our best wishes to the Senator and his family, I know they must be devistated".

Yeah, particularly the Senator!

Bill Kristol think Dean might win doesn't change my opinion that Dean is an America-hating socialist.

I think what you're saying, though, is that we shouldn't underestimate Dean.

I agree. We shouldn't underestimate anyone except Carol Mosely Brown/Braun (whatever.)

But don't you think Bill Kristol is doing a B'rer Rabbit on that one?

Look at what the left is doing to Reagan right now with that "pond scum" movie. As you say, it doesn't show much class to rip the defenseless. I may not like much of what Simon stood for, but in death we can hold off on the barbs for a period of time.

I remember the day Nixon was laid to rest. Paul Conrad in the Los Angeles Times skewered him one more time for good measure. That was the measure of Paul Conrad as far as I was concerned.

He was a bitter little man.

We are much better than DUmmies. As an Illinois native, I say goodbye and may god rest his soul, to one of the last old fashioned liberals. Simon was honest, hard working, and forthright. I did not share his party or ideological direction,
but respect his hardwork over the years. He stood in contrast to other Democrats lacking in personal integrity, and put his constituents before his party. Probably why he did not rise to leadership in that corrupt organization.

While I accept the Christian beliefs, I reject the absolutism and rigidity which is too often part of Christian followers as well as those of other faiths. I believe that logic can lead to a belief in a Supreme Being, whatever the name. But then people have to make what Danish [Lutheran] theologian/philosopher So/ren Kierkegaard called "the leap of faith." For most of us who have been reared in one particular religious background, that leap came almost with birth. ... There is truth to St. Augustine's words: "Understanding is the reward of faith. Therefore, let us seek not to understand [so] that we may believe, but believe that we may understand." With flawed understanding, I try to reach reality in religion. But I know my understanding is flawed, and that helps to avoid excessively dogmatic assertions. The danger with the self-search for reality is that it becomes easy to adapt beliefs to our weaknesses. ...

Paul Simon was an honest liberal, and I can respect that. I disagree with much of what he stood for, but he had integrity and he understood the idea of "loyal opposition"-- something all too rare in the modern DNC.

Love your tagline! I'm an ASU Sun Devils fan, and I listened to the UNC game on the radio since there was no TV coverage. It was quite an "interesting" game, mainly because of the horrible referees...can you say "homers?" Thank heaven we don't play them again!

RIP Paul.

I may have disagreed with you ideologically, but you were an honorable man in public and private life. Lord only knows the Clintons would rather you were the Rorschach stain in their hate-filled Democratic Party.

In the case of a guy like this, the less said, the better.

I agree with your sentiment on old Paul. Everything I have ever heard of him is that he was a real straight shooter.

He will be missed.

I wouldn't go to another country and expect that they learn my language in order to converse

I got news for you: most of the world IS a "tower of babel." Vey few ethnically and lingusitically pure nations on this earth. When I was in France, I heard plenty of people speaking Arabic, Khmer, etc.
