I understand, it might not be the first thought.
Actually I'm kinda surprised that police haven't gone to a trunked system that can't be monitored by outsiders.

Dallas uses old 460mhz stuff. My city, Plano, uses trunked, but I have a trunk scanner that gets it too.
Also, there's digital scanners now for the future stuff too. The cops never get ahead for long of the scanner tech.

If improper use (or nonuse) of turn signals so offends you when you visit our State, then stop driving behind snowbirds and touristsOh, for Pete's sake, sorry if I stepped on your toes. I was just teasing. After all, having lived in the FL panhandle for most of the 1990's I think I've earned the right! :0)

WHat would I ask for if I wanted to get a "trunked" scanner.
My local Radio Shack guys and I never communicate well, I ask for a thingy bob for a whatcha ma call it and they just stare at me with a blank expression.
Now they get that blank stare ready when I walk through the door.
So if I were to go in today and ask for a scanner with the trunk thingy what would I really ask for and what brand if you have one to suggest.

Cool thanks, I called my local RS and they did not have the sale price. I got it though for the sale price and free programming with in store purchase.
With the attitude they have toward me I called ahead and asked them to program it then call me when it is ready.
They are reeeeeally slow when I attempt to do a purchase and having to coordinate my time so carefully (packing up the quad son for errands is very time consuming) I cannot stand around waiting patiently if it is not necessary.
Thanks again. Hopefully it will be ready for the target time I set of 12:30pm. I told them I would call ahead. I really dread using our local RS because of past communication problems. Don't have a choice in a small rural area at times though. I printed out the RS page that you linked me to just so there is no mistake I can hand them that and I won't have to talk.

Got the analog Pro95 one? I have a Pro-92, 2 generations behind this one, and it's great fun. Works very well. You can even program it so it'll show which channel name it is when they talk..
Good hobby.

Yes I ordered the Pro 95 1000 channel for $149.99 with free scanner programming.
Had a scanner many years ago but it became out tech dated.
Went in to get one about 2months ago and the guys at RS could not understand what I wanted. Like I said they see me coming and get an attitude due to my poor electronic knowledge and how to communicate what I can see in my mind but I am lost for descriptive words.
So I have the page printed got the son up in his chair and hopefully they will be ready by 12:15 as we have another appt. back here at the house with the respiratory therapist as our bi yearly consult in accordance to contract. She just needs to say on paper that she came looked and saw the client to make it official as he is doing great and status quo.
Thanks again I have really wanted to get a new scanner for quite some time now.

Maybe the perps were waiting for media to show up as a safe guard so as not to get a ass whoopin'.
You noticed two camera men and a photojournilist where right on top of the action when the cops yanked their butts out and down to the ground.
Never know now a days so better to cover yourself wether you are LE or the Perp.

What city are you near?
Glad you got one, let me know how it goes. Bigger cities=much cooler stuff.
And of course, it can pick up 900mhz/46mhz cordless phones.. But you didn't hear me say that :)
