This is a little alarmist, but an interesting take on Russian election results.

What do you want to bet that now that Putin has control of the Duma, liberals start trashing Putin and his party as "rethuglicans"? Too bad for communism, eh?

As a result, the only two liberal parties presently in the Duma - Yabloko and the Union of Right Forces - may fail to achieve the five per cent needed for representation. ==
Heh heh:). Is it nothing to do thier slant toward oligarkh money. Oligarkhs are russian mafia. SO those tow parties went on dirty money and deeply failed.

Re post 7, won't happen. The Russians tend to be 99.44 percent followers, sheeple of the worst kind. Many are masochistic enough to even want the proverbial "Strong Man" in charge, someone to direct their lives. This is what follows 70 years of communism...initiative disappears.
In summary, it's my humble opinion that real democracy in that country is a lost cause.

I was speaking of another COMMUNIST revolution now that they are a minority. I agree that for some reason the Russian people prefer the lash, the yoke and the noose.

OK, I agree that that is a real possibility. Either way, the Russian people lose, of course.
To: OldPossum
The Russian people have always lost, for hundreds of years. Difficult to understand why they willingly submit to the iron fist. Sad

So let me get this straight. They're saying that the only hope for freedom is for the people to vote for more communists and that if the capitalists gain anymore power they will destroy the country. Kinda' sounds like the American media's take on politics.

President Vladimir Putin took control of the Russian parliament last night, removing the last effective bastion of opposition to his rule and paving the way for him to assume Tsar-like power.Well, wait, is not Blair then King (never mind powerless crown jewel who sit in Buckingham palace). He rule is endless as long as labor stay in power....hmmm, who more king now? There no particular election for prime minister as long as majority power held.....what about George Bush or is it Ceasar Bush? After all, Republican hold both room of Congress?
To: cynicom
So you suggesting what? Communists retake power now that they only 13% of Duma? Which side you happen on?
To: OldPossum
Guess you little of real Russian character...your post make obvious. As for strong man...yes much better under corrupt US puppet Yeltsin when all soul of Russia for sale to West....image that it not work for Russians.
To: cynicom
What have Russian peoples lost? Hmmm? First labor protection laws? Made under Catherine the Great, sedition to translate in England and France. Wars? Which one? Napolianic? 5 Turkish? WW2? Or you refer to Mongol invasion? What lost? Back up words with fact. As for Civil War...yeah if only US/British businessmen like Armnhammer, Rockefeller, Rothchilde and German Kaiser had not given hundreds millions to Bolshaviks, maybe different history.
To: RussianConservative
Suggesting nothing, not on anyones side as that is not the question.

I was speaking of another COMMUNIST revolution now that they are a minority. I agree that for some reason the Russian people prefer the lash, the yoke and the noose. So you for or against Communists? You seem to advocate another Communist revolution in spill. State position and not this "neutral". Also, lash? Hahahah, when you ever been in Russia? Or you get info from paperback novel?
As for communist revolution, only if Western hypocrits first ship mass of geritol. Average age Communist membership 55. Good luck.
