SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Former President Bill Clinton has been asked to make a last-minute campaign appearance for San Francisco's Democratic mayoral hopeful, who faces a tough runoff race against a Green Party challenger, campaign sources said Friday.

Former Vice President Al Gore already campaigned for Democratic candidate Gavin Newsom this week and has asked Clinton to come before Tuesday's election, according to Newsom's campaign consultant, Eric Jaye.

It would seem that the Republicans hold the key to this election. More than likely they will vote against Matt Gonzalez, fearing chaos should he be elected. However, if they REALLY wanted to screw things up they would hold their nose, vote Gonzalez, and then await the deluge.

saw the error on the image you posted but copied and pasted image url into browser and saw what you were trying to post. a green cross logo morphs to a swastika.. thanks. not far from the truth. that city is so whacked & wicked, but what views, still a #1 destination for tourists & (hoemgrown terrorists) from all over the world , imo..

Did ya hear anything about the Bush administration making an offer to help take care of the homeless problem in San Francisco? I saw a teaser onthe news ticker on a local channel this morning. Maybe they could move them to Mexico.

Poll: SF Mayor's Race a Dead Heat
by KPIX Exclusive Reports Friday December 05, 2003 at 06:49 PM

Matt Gonzalez leads Gavin Newsom 2 to 1 with younger voters. Newsom is leading in the Asian community. Absentee ballots likely to favor Newsom, so turn out is key for a Gonzalez victory.

An exclusive CBS 5 Eyewitness News poll shows that the San Francisco's mayor's race is a dead heat, with Matt Gonzalez slightly ahead of Gavin Newsom.

Gonzalez was understandably pleased to hear the results when we met up with him Friday morning.

"I'm glad to hear that," he said. "We've been getting hit with so much negative press and mail from Newsom's camp, I'm pleased to know that folks are withstanding all of that."

The pollsters from Survey USA interviewed 534 San Franciscans who identified themselves as "certain" to vote. They were surveyed after this past Tuesday's final mayoral debate here on CBS-5 TV.

The poll shows Gonzalez with a slight lead over Newsom: 50% to 48%. Two percent were undecided. But because the margin of error is 4.3%, the Gonzalez lead is well within that margin.

If there's any good news for Newsom, it's that he's doing better in this poll than in our previous two polls, where he was also behind. Still, he wasn't happy to be hit with this news Friday.

"What, am I down by 40 points in the KPIX poll?" he said. "We said this was going to be a close race. None of this surprises me... the key is to get our supporters to the polls."

One candidate is Ivy League, a Columbia University scholar who became editor of the prestigious Stanford Law Review. A native Texan, he is the son of a former tobacco executive ...

Just like Karl Marx, who was also the son of a rich industrialist. What is it with communists? Guilt, poor little rich boy syndrome, drugs??

Thomas Sowell made the point this morning that Marx and Engels (of Communist Manifesto "fame") were born into well to do families yet they ended up foisting the most convoluted piece of tripe on this world ever seen, well next to the UN Charter that is.

Ironic, No?
