Ark. Plane Crash Kills Whitewater Lawyer

HARRISON, Ark. (AP) - A lawyer who pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge filed by Whitewater prosecutors died Thursday when the small plane he was piloting crashed while trying to land at an airport, officials said.

John Haley, 72, who was once the personal lawyer of former Arkansas Gov. Jim Guy Tucker, had recently joined a new law firm. A partner, Peter B. Heister, confirmed Haley's death.

One passenger, Farish Kincaid, 70, also was killed in the crash. Authorities said the men, both from the Little Rock area, apparently were due at a business meeting in Harrison.

Haley and Tucker were accused in 1995 of setting up a sham bankruptcy to hide profits from a business deal. Haley pleaded guilty and was fined and ordered to pay restitution.

Tucker pleaded guilty in the case, and was also convicted in a separate trial on fraud charges involving James and Susan McDougal, the partners of President Clinton and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Whitewater land deal. Tucker was sentenced to probation and home detention.

The Clintons were never charged in connection with Whitewater.

Haley's Bonanza single-engine, two-seat aircraft crashed in a ravine about 300 yards south of the Boone County Airport in northwestern Arkansas, Sheriff Danny Hickman said.

The National Transportation Safety Board planned an investigation.

For kicks and giggles...

You have had an honorable mention:

"...after a 1999 Investor's Business Daily story exposed her close ties to Lippo executive John Huang."

From an article by a guy called Bob Smith:

The Tucker case is even scarier because he was pursued not for his own political activities, but for those of another -- Bill Clinton, who dared be president. Tucker is something like the baseball player who is plunked by the pitcher because the batter in front of him hit a home run. The pain may be especially sharp considering that Tucker and Clinton, though teammates in a way -- both Democrats and Arkansans -- have been more rivals than friends over the years. But here is Tucker dying for Clinton's alleged sins, and having to drag himself from the courthouse while Say McIntosh jabbers insults at him. Then he has to turn the governor's office over to Mike Huckabee, whom he dislikes personally and who is a member of the political party that did Tucker in. It doesn't get much worse than this.

Clinton strikes again. I have a source on this if anyone needs it.

A small plane crashed Thursday night near Moreland, Georgia, about 40 miles southwest of Atlanta, officials said, but it's unknown how many passengers were aboard the plane or how many may have been injured or killed.

Might seem like we're stretching it - but it sure is eerie. Maybe once you have dealings with the wide-load and her husband - you are automatically doomed. It may take a while - but just give it time. In any case - it won't be a natural cause of death.

I'll defer to your meaning. Maybe the original meaning was more narrow as I had supposed?

At any rate, and before I put on my holiday colored tinfoil, I'll have to say this. Sometimes a plane crash is just a plane crash regardless of who is in the plane.

(But I can't argue with your concerns about where you step.)

But this isn't tin foil hat, IMHO...just what do you think happens when you cross the mafia? From what we know of the Clintons and their lack of morals, are they any different as far as what they're capable of if they're crossed?

Small plane crashes and bullets behind the left ear are preferred methods of suicide in Arkansas. One guy whose plane mysteriously went down was on his way to shoot some footage for THE CLINTON CHRONICLES.

You'd think FOB's and FOH's would have learned by now to stay away from small aircraft, wouldn't you?
