Geneva ceremony becomes forum for slamming Israel

A ceremony launching the Geneva Ininitiative in a Swiss convention center on Monday became a festival of anti-Israel bashing.

Internaitonal, Palestinian, and Israeli speakers took turns criticizing Israeli settlements and the security fence, calling them the main obstacles to middle east peace.

"The road map's first basic phase has been substantially rejected as the Israeli government has ignored mild American objection and continued to colonize Gaza and the far-reaches of the West Bank and to build an enormous barrier wall on Palestinian land," Former American President Jimmy Carter said.

A letter from Palestinian Authority Chairman Yasser Arafat endorsing the initiative that was read at the ceremony said the Palestinians have extended an olive branch and Israel has responded by building "a shameful and disgraceful wall."

Former Palestinian Information Minister Yasser Abbed Rabbo told of the plight of "farmers who have seen their land and trees sacrificed to the alter of the separation wall."

"A wall is being built through the heart of Palestinian land to ensure that the occupation will continue," Abbed-Rabbo said. "They hope that the separation wall and the annexation of Palestinian land will be the solution in place of a peace agreement.

But by doing this, Israel will become an Apartheid state. This is an alternative we will never accept."

One Palestinian speaker called Sharon a "fascist." Another called the fence "a Berlin wall that separates Palestinian land into bantustans."

Initiative founder Yossi Beilin made an addition to his prepared remark that defended Sharon but criticized him at the same time for not meeting with Arafat.

"We don't believe we can make peace by boycotting the other leader or by calling him a fascist," Beilin said.

The harsh criticism of Israel marred an event that was intended to be a celebration of peace.

Israeli and Palestinian ex-generals called for an end to fighting, Israeli and Palestinian singers performed, and all the initiators of the agreement went on the stage at the end for a massive group hug.

Peace activists from around the world were invited to applaud from the audience. Protesters were heard outside the building blowing horns during the ceremony.

This is too much. Next they'll be singing "Kumbaya" with the Koranimals.

What a naive statement. Exactly who intended it to be a celebration of "peace"?

The more I hear groups from the UN, Europe, South-East Asia, the Middle East, and parts of the USA (ie ANSWER and other leftists) talk about "peace", the more I realize their version of "peace" is to kill all the Jewish people, outlaw Christianity, outlaw freedom and individual liberty, and establish a National Socialist dream gov't (ie NAZI empire). This, to them, is true "peace".

I happen to think thier idea of "peace" is insane and will fight it all I can.

I also heard that Carter was at this thing bashing President Bush and our policy of actually DEFENDING ourselves when attacked (along with 28 other countries who joined us in our "unilateral" move against Saddam).

Someone likened this to a 1930s NAZI Neuremburg rally and I agree with them whole-heartedly. NAZIism is alive and well, and it is the left side of the political spectrum.

And now we have to fight our grandfather's war against these NAZIs all over again, or did that war against the evils of national socialism they fought ever end?

Yes, I was shocked. Shocked!!
Imagine, the Israelis have given their sworn enemies infinitely more autonomy and territory than they ever got when the Jordanians and Egyptians were in possession, and yet they are ungrateful and abusive. Why, it boggles the mind!

As was once said of the Germans: The Arabs are either at your feet or at your throat.

Yeah, it does......But these people are Islamic or simply hate Christians so much they could care less what the Bible says. As for me, I'll buy more ammo and a bomb shelter because these people are getting too warlike and genocidal for me to feel safe without those things.

BTW, how many "kingdoms" are in the EU?? Is it 6 or 7 that have turned against Isreal and her allies?
