Ya know, I used to think the same thing. Or worse even. A geriatric leftist bitch disappointed because a lifetime had been wasted trumpeting socialist/elitist causes.
Then I realized it's even worse than that.
Check some of her early writing. Try to remember some of the early questions she asked the Presidents as she was "honored" with the first question at news conferences.
I think you'll find her writing and questions were incisive, sometimes witty, clearly thought out, and always asked in a way the viewer or reader could tell she was clearly "asking" for information instead of trying to twist a "pre-ordained" knife like she does now.
So what happened to Mizzzzzzzzzzz Thomas? Did senility start eating away at her brainpan like the Bela virus? LOL. Perhaps.
But I think not.
I think she ever so slowly became so completely indoctrinated by the relentless liberal mantra of both her cohorts and the media outlets that every problem, in her mind and per the liberal religion she'd willingly adopted, was caused by an inferior species who needed to be led to the Promised Land by the elites like her.
Whew. I know that's a mouthful. The Cliff Notes version of what I said above is . . . Jackasses like Helen Thomas, Petah Jennings, Dan Rather, and Babs Streisand TRULY believe they were anointed by THEIR God to lead us poor, ignorant conservatives to their version of the Promised Land.
Now think about that for a sec. That's a bit different than them just being on the wrong side of an issue like we usually think they are now. It's a different mindset. And it'll take different tactics to defeat them.
Religion is being redefined thanks to liberals. Marriage is being redefined thanks to liberals. Patriotism is being redefined thanks to liberals. Ditto for every other part of society.
And they're getting away with it because we don't understand our enemy.
I'm a big, big GW fan . . . but he's brought a term and philosophy to the political table that's allowing the Conservative Cause to be easily trumped by the "do anything" liberals. "Compassionate Conservatism." We're compassionate when we confront the liberals . . . so we always compromise. We don't realize that the newly formed boundaries we just agreed to are merely the "new starting points" for the next round of compromising. Eventually the Progressives/Liberals are in charge of defining all things important . . . just like they are now.
We have a majority in the Senate yet we can't get our judicial nominees appointed. The majority of Americans would classify themselves as conservatives yet, with confident impunity, judicial activists declare sodomy to be legal and same-sex marriage to be the newest entitlement of the soul-less liberal class.
This madness is occurring all around us . . . AND WE'RE IN THE MAJORITY!!!!!
Why? Because we don't understand our enemies. We don't understand that the Helen Thomas' of the world will do anything and everything to impose their vision of the Promised Land on us.
Compassionate Conservatism? Should we deal with Saddam Hussein compassionately? Or Osama bin Laden? Should we have dealt with Adolf Hitler compassionately?
The radical liberals are every bit as dangerous as anyone you can think of. They just nip at our bodies and belief systems a little at a time instead of trying to gnaw off a whole arm at one time . . . but we're dying slowly but surely anyway.
That's why Helen Thomas is so dangerous. And we must wake up. We're at war with BOTH foreign and domestic terrorists. We're winning on foreign soil but the terrorists are kicking our asses domestically.
