Sen. Clinton: U.S. Will Stand With Afghans
Nov 27, 3:24 PM (ET)
By THOMAS WAGNER
http://apnews.myway.com/article/20031127/D7V35R5G0.html BAGRAM, Afghanistan (AP) - Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton promised Thursday that America will stand with Afghanistan as it tries to rebuild after a quarter-century of conflict and warned Taliban rebels that they "are fighting a losing battle."
snip
The former first lady, who was in Afghanistan along with Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., on a whistlestop tour to spend Thanksgiving with U.S. troops, said the United States is determined to support Afghan President Hamid Karzai.

This is really wonderful
So glad for our troops (and our President) that the "ultimate road trip" was pulled off
And upstaging Hitlary is just icing on the cake!

Agreed. After a thorough background check, every non- citizen who signs up to serve our country deserves immediate citizenship.

One incident the reporter didn't see or write about: apparently a British Airways flight got close enough to see the presidential seal, and radioed, asking if it was Air Force One. After a long silence, Air Force One answered that they were not...said the plane was a Gulfstream (?). I think that's what the broadcaster called it...I know zilch about planes. Of course, it wasn't...that plane is much smaller than the 747. Anyway, the British Airways captain just replied, "oh" and flew on!

"What a Thanksgiving for our troops! They will always remember this holiday"What is more important, is the fact that the President came to see them. The word will spread around like wildfire. The other thing is that that was not a phoney visit but a genuine one. NO BS here.
Tomorrow, Hillary will be in the city, a real hardship on the commander and the troops. Pure bull puckey.
Bush got in and out. Say hello, encourage, then shut up. While Hillary will waffle, waffle, waffle. She best shut her mouth after this.
I don't care if this was politics or not, what a brilliant strategy from President Bush.

I poked around the DU thread. The meltdown is hilarious, almost as good as the 2000 Soreloserman episodes.

665 MPH, assuming the value that was given to the press was in ground speed, equals 578 NMPH (knots).
Speed of sound (Mach 1) at 30,000 feet = 589 knots.
So, Air Force One was moving along at a brisk Mach .981.
Yeah, I'd say that's smokin'!

Also since this is being widely reported they are flying in I would guess every terrorist with a SAM will be staking out that airport ready to shoot down anything that flies in.Not only that, but the terrorists might be more tempted to lob stuff on soldiers at certain locations. Pre-publicized photo-ops are crocks. Keep it mum, or keep it home.

I normally am not one of those people who gets into a frenzy because FR reports the sailing of an aircraft carrier, or anything else that would be well-known to the enemy- but this really WAS a secret.
What next- are we going to post the coordinates of all of our boomers? Or todays nuclear codes?

I think it was Wendell Golar on FoxNews who said GWB would be in the air a total of 30 hours (there and back).

That is absurd. The President's staff knew that once he was in Baghdad there was a chance it would be reported.
To: Maria S
Bush is eating Hillary's lunch! (I got a feeling the greeting she's going to get will seem feeble by comparison.)
