Good ol' Reuters - as if they're not really "terrorists," just freedom fighters, eh? Are you kidding me? Was that in quotes? Holy crap! It reminds me of this article I read in Newsday a few months ago. This one soldier came back after he lost his foot over there and they had it written like this; "Hometown 'hero' returns from Iraq" Can you imagine? They`re just terrorist enablers these freggin` mutts.

Yes, the Reuters cutline for the news photo really put quotation marks around "terrorists," as if - wink, wink, nudge, nudge - we all know those peaceful Muslims are really the nicest of folk, and it's just those stupid Americans who unfairly brand them with the nasty "T-word."
Here's the (unedited by me) lead to the Reuters story:
By David Brunnstrom KABUL (Reuters) - U.S. Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton made a Thanksgiving visit to U.S. troops in Afghanistan on Thursday and said the United States would stay the course in the fight against "terrorists" in the country. link

Keep stuffing it in Hillary. At least when you're eating we don't have to listen to you talk. ;)

Senator Clinton pauses while stuffing her cheeks with
yams for the trip back home to listen to a soldier relate
how little faith the troops have in her.

Jerry Rivers on FNC just had a video clip of this and still no one was talking to her.
Good. Our military personnel is showing excellent manners.
My naive civilian guess is that they politely salute, greet with bland pleasantries,
exchange meaningless talk, smile pleasantly, earn an Oscar with a feigned smile during
the requisite photo-op, then give a parting felicitation and salute as the unwelcome guest
is stuffed back onto the plane/copter.
I'm sure our best-and-brightest are giving her the equivalent of that dreaded sign
of total disapproval in the academic world: faint, polite applause at the
end of a lecture, signifying "Thank G-d that's over".

Senator Hillary "Rod'em" Clinton poses in front of a life-size cardboard
cutout of the 101st Airborne. Moments later the troops observing this
photo op showed their affection by turning around and showing her their "thongs."

Don't ask Don't Tell!
That fact that the AP has released photo probably means one of three things:
1. There is a devilish fellow traveler of freerepublic working at AP
2. There is a DNC operative at AP who hopes to firm up Hillary!'s voter base for 2008
3. There is a clueless worker at AP who didn't realize that the photo would provide much
fun for freerepublic.
And I say this all with full respect for the lady soldiers in the photo.
They deserve our prayers.
And extra combat pay for the hazardous duty (maintaining a polite face in that forum)
for 11-27-03.
