ZOT! Socialism or Humanitarian-ism
11/26/03 | Michaelangelo

If there is one thing that I find shocking in so many self-proclaimed conservatives is their fear of any legislation that lends itself to bettering the lives and conditions of their fellow-countrymen. The idea of a national healthcare program, as an example, stiffens their backs, ices up their blood and throws them into paroxysms of terror. "We are moving towards socialism", becomes the outcry. Is it that we would be moving towards socialism or towards a more humanitarian way of dealing with the health needs of the general public. Do insurance companies and drug companies need to increase their wealth to epic proportions at the expense of the public? Do Doctors really need to become billionaires because they practice medicine in America? It seems that the current administration is dancing to the fiddles in the drug and insurance company orchestra. They could have done something great for the people of this country but once again we are sold down the river. A woman from Canada who wrote in to MSNBC could not have said it better, "America is a first rate nation with a third class health care system, we are proud of how we take care of our seniors here in Canada, why don't you do something for the people of your country and finally give them something they deserve to have". If that equates to socialism than vive la socialism, I prefer to call it humanitarian-ism which means a compassionate form of government. Do conservatives have a fear of compassion? How do you treat members of your own family? Would you let anyone in your family go without a doctor or healthcare if they needed it? Well we are all a family in this great country of ours or so we should be. When that concept finally sinks in then the fears will melt away and perhaps we can move towards a healthier life in every way instead of this huge dysfunctional hodgepodge we call Conservatism.

Socialized Medicine is:
1. My Dr having a few beers with his lunch before operating on me... Happens in England.
2. Having to wait for critical surgery because there are no Dr.s. .. Canada.
3. Having to "make do" with poor "generic" drugs because thats all the GOVERNMENT is allowing you to take, unless you can pay full price for the good stuff, but with the huge tax load to pay for socailized medicine, only the very rich or senior govenment officials can afford them...
Most countries with "socialized" medical care...
4. Dying while waiting for an ambulance because the GOVERNMENT says that your area only needs one, and that one is 45 miles away with a drunk that has fallen down and can't find his beer...
Actually happened in Sussex, England - note, area has 2 ambulances now, but only manpower for one....
5. Dying in the hospital from heatstroke and massive dehydration because there are no Drs or staff available. Why? Beacause they are all on Government regulated holidays.
France.

So, Thanks much you little pea brained drooling reject from your mother's apron strings, but I'll pass on the "wonderful idea" of socialized medicine.

I smell ozone... you'd better be running along now.

Do two things before you come back here with more spam.

1. Learn how to f*%king format. If you're going to troll, you have to learn how to be a good troll. Dammit, don't they teach you people anything over there at DU? Just because it's a BBS based board doesn't relieve you of the obligation to learn HTML formatting like an adult. Now stop being a liberal jagoff and get a formatting book! By God, if your next hit and run vanity isn't formatted, haze gray and underway, I will petition the Admin Moderator to zot your whole thread and remove it.

2. Punctuation never hurt anybody. Now it doesn't help matters that you're a f%*king idiot anyway; only a clueless liberal would believe that the Canadian or the British NHS systems provide superior service to our own. Nevertheless, paragraphs filled with run on sentences, proper capitalizations, dangling modifiers, and lacking any coherent organization are a waste of my damn time. They should be a waste of your damn time, but since you are Democrat, I don't expect high standards from you. I do expect you to learn how to spell and write standard written English.

Now square your sh*t away, and don't come back here until you can be a good and proper troll.

Be Seeing You,

Chris

Here's just ONE article on the British NHS...

"One of the Government's most eminent advisers on the health service has admitted that patients will not have an NHS they can be proud of for another decade. "

"Barry Jackson, president of the Royal College of Surgeons and a member of the Government's Modernisation Board, said change was so slow it would be 2010 before the public could be happy with the service they were getting."

"In an interview with The Observer, Jackson said fears about lower training standards, the arrival of foreign doctors to practice cardiac surgery and a lack of nurses was putting patient care at risk."

"He said he expected another winter crisis this year if there are high numbers of flu sufferers and said morale in the service had fallen under the Government, rather than risen."

The bleak assessment of the future of the NHS comes at a particularly embarrassing time for Tony Blair who will speak to a meeting of the Royal College on Tuesday.

And here's one on the sad state of Canadian Health Care.

I am so sick and tired of people who swallow the lies of the left. Do some research before you spout this garbage! You must be very young, to think a government run HMO is better than what we have now.

As a physician here in the US I want to know when in He-- I am going to get my BILLIONS. Or maybe my MILLIONS. I've been in practice for 18 years and do not have close to one MILLION. But if I ever do get those Billions or Millions I want you to know I worked for my property(ie fruit of My labors) and you and the GOVERNMENT can keep your hands off of my property. I do not look kindly on robbers or tresspassors. That way I can have my FREEDOM to spend it or bury it in the ground if I WANT.

Of course conservatives want the best for their fellow man. We are not cold hearted egomaniacs who rejoice in the suffering of others.

We simply have a better way to distribute scarce resources.

Socialism removes the profit motive and the consequently - all incentive to perform and inovate.

Want proof? The war on poverty started in the 60s has spent billions and billions of dollars. Enough money so that if given to the population we'd all be rich. Yet, poverty still exists and over the decades billions have evaporated.

The free market is not the perfect way to distribute resources - but it is the best.

Look at this country in its first 100 years. Arguably this was the most capitalistic time in our history. During this time millions of wretched poor teamed into this country. And capitalism created wealth.

As to your non spaced, barely readable rant, at what point have I or essentially anyone on FreeRepublic suggested the government should confiscate your wealth?

In fact, if you spent more than a cursory search here at FreeRepublic, I suspect that you'd find that confiscatory taxtion is the antithesis of the goals of FreeRepublic.

That said, I worked for a GP for 3 years. I know the medical business. GPs don't get rich. They do however do "better than average". Way better. A Gp in a private practice can easily do 120-175k/year without a sweat. If you're not making that and you've truly got a medical DR, you're living in a backwater and seeing fewer than 20 patients a day.

Why you would come to FR and suggest that the folks here want to take your money is beyond me. I suspect if you asked most of the folks here, most would suggest that taxes shouldn't exceed more than a few percent to support the military and roads.

If I may intercede...

Malsua - I think the rant was directed to the troll, and Therut may have just replied to the last post, which was yours.

Therut - Careful next time, and I agree with you!

This Canadian YO-YO Canuck Hockey-Stick Ice-Brained Whacko has tried to Troll us before under the same name.

I remember this idiot around the "Jumpin' Jim Jeffords" era.

He, She or it, (probably a sex-change graduate) tried to rail about the Republican party becoming obsolete or something tremendously stupid of that disorder.

This loser always hits and runs.........but it will be back like a case of pyles.

I think he was ranting about this, Malsua:

Do Doctors really need to become billionaires because they practice medicine in America?

LOL! I've been waiting for a doctor to see that one. Hoo boy.

What a good idea, we'll cut the doctors' salaries and pass laws that forbid drug companies from making profits.

It's a good idea, if what we want is a shortage of doctors and no new drugs ever...
