A French journalist successfully negotiated to receive a home video taken two days ago three days ago by TERRORISTS on the ground in Baghdad near the International Airport. Japanese TV has gotten their hands on the video. Freepers, here it is.
The brief video clip, with explanation, CLEARLY shows the enemy's advance positioning on the ground, near the airport, for the missile 'hit' of an approaching Baghdad-to-Bahrain DHL cargo aircraft.
It then shows the actual missile launch, or what appears to be several launches. It also shows the "hit", under the left side wing of the aircraft.
The speed of the missile is estimated at approximately 580 meters/per/second. Amazing video (in the Japanese language but clear to understand).

Thanks for the info.
This makes much more sense now.
I guess I can see where it could be an authentic video...

Paris Hilton?! Damn, that's ALOT better than what I got... I'll trade you your Paris Hilton for my Janet/Hillary/Donna Extreme Lustfest. Better yet, you can have my tape and I'll just imagine the Paris Hilton tape.

Hi
A couple more useful facts:
1. Since the photos of the airport area look like fairly open scrub-brush land, it would make sense to simply fence off the appropriate area and inform the locals that anyone who is inside the fence will be shot or arrested. Then there wouldn't be any mistakes, (such as the scenario mentioned on this thread) where the U.S. helicopter doesn't take aggressive notice of a car that is apparently disabled.
2. Most MANPADS are guided by the infrared/heat signature of the target airplane. The hottest part of the plane is the engine, and a hit on the underside of the engine nacelle will not usually cause the wing's fuel tanks to blow up or catch fire. Even if the engine must be shut down, a properly trained pilot who has practiced emergency procedures will probably be able to land the plane safely.
3. Commercial airliners can sustain a substantial amount of damage and still fly. You may recall that in 1988 an Aloha (Hawaiian) Airlines 737 lost a 14 ft. x 18 ft. section of the roof while flying at 400 mph at 25,000 feet and the pilot landed it safely with the loss of only one life. Ten years ago a supersonic Concorde lost 1/3 of its vertical rudder at 50,000 feet and 1,000 mph, and it made it back safely.

yes, I saw the video, it looks fake..
it has the rocket launch, towards an airtrail -
the rocket seems to move upwards and the background was still - looks like someone doing an overlaying job here -
should be interesting for the ufo-film crowd to examine the film and debunk the tape as one of those fakes around..

Based on what I see here, I'm inclined to think IGLA or IGLA-1.
Same system was also widely available to the Saddam army, including the Republican Guard; stands to reason that the Fedayeen would get the ordnance.
Also, this technology is 20+ years old. That era of equipment guarantees it's on the open market.
The IGLA, from my information, is a system that's meant to be integrated into an air defense umbrella. It's capable of being uplinked with a digital brigade or division ADA plan. As such, it's not well-suited for a "rogue archer". Still, it can be employd that way, but there are more and simpler weapons for that task; think of an M1A2 for civil disturbance.
One thing we must remember, that the tinfoil hats remind us: The Lone Gunman will always get through.

ParisMatch.com has published photos taken with the terrorists as they fired the missile and hit the plane.
The site is diffficult to visit. It's in French, and it's 100% Flash movie format.
The title of the article is "IRAK EXCLUSIF: ILS TIRENT AU MISSILE SUR L'AIRBUS - Notre reporter était avec le commando que a touché l'avion-cargo" (roughly translated - IRAQ EXCLUSIVE: THEY FIRE A MISSILE AT THE AIRBUS - Our reporter was with the commandos who hit the cargo aircraft)
