A new bombshell revelation in the Kobe Bryant case threatens to destroy the credibility of the prosecutions key witness - whose testimony could send the basketball superstar to jail for years. Sources told GLOBE that the 19-year-old woman who has accused Bryant of rape told them she had sex with the prosecutions star witness Bobby Pietrack - a week before she met Bryant.
Pietrack, a 23-year-old bellhop at the resort where the alleged rape took place, is the first person Katelyn Faber told about her encounter with Bryant. He can testify about her emotional state and physical appearance at the time.
But legal experts tell us that if there was a sexual encounter between Katelyn and the bellhop, it could wreck his credibility and sink the case of the Eagle County, Colo., prosecutor.
For all the details of this blockbuster story, pick up the new issue of GLOBE.

That hasn't even been hinted at by the defense. If she were there would be evidence that was the source.

Animal testing is a bad idea. They get all nervous and give wrong answers Now, that's a funny tag line.
I think mine is a bit understated.

"What am I missing?"
You are missing just how far so many sport star idolizing, faux hero worshipping, pre-puberty mentality arrested, boy men, will go to pretend their celebrity idols don't have feet of clay.
That's what you are missing.

I'm glad to see him suffering for being a hypocrite As I get older, I find that the number of people that I know who have never committed a hypocritical act is reducing to less than what I could count on ten fingers.
I'm not excusing Kobe's actions anymore than I am condemming the obvious promiscuity of the accuser, but I only wish some of us who are hanging on to a guilty Kobe in their eye would examine their own motives. I have said from day one that if Kobe is guilty, bury him UNDER the jail. But from the looks of this, there seems every indication that this girl has worse problems than anyone wanted to admit, and Kobe is going to go home with a not-guilty verdict.

Kobe has for years hung out with NBA Players, the lowest gang of scum and thugs outside a prison. My presumption is that is he were a decent individual, he wouldn't be there. They don't have to be in the NBA to be perps but they need a cult following to get away with it.
Kobe Bryant, Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, OJ Simpson, and Bill Clinton hall of shame bump.
To: Howlin
That was one judge's opinion. Again, he hasn't seen all the evidence. And your everyday juror doesn't compare to a criminal court judge.
To: Smogger
Since his accuser had sex, Kobe can't be guilty. I know his wife is OK with this.

I don't think this is a bombshell. Bombshell get thrown around too easily for my taste, but it puts doubt on their best witness. She had a reason to lie to him. That's not good.

"I have spoken to Fox News correspondant Carol McKinley a little bit who is covering this story for Fox News. She was the one who broke the t-shirt story. She said the Sheriff and the DA are barely on speaking terms."
So what? The DA still felt he had enough to bring a likelihood of conviction or he would not have brought the case to trial.

I agree. Rape is rape.
Sharing a bed is....well, weird....but it isn't rape.
To: Smogger
Okay she slept around a lot and the star witness may have been one of those she slept with. And yes, it is easy to imagine that she was willing to have sex with Kobe at some point in their relationship and that she went up to his room with the idea of having an affair with him (though probably with the idea of a romantic encounter instead of a quick and arguably degrading sex act). So certainly not a person of great moral standing nor an especially sympathetic figure. But still, i think the thrust of this case will be this: whether she objected to having sex with him at that point in time and/or particularly whether she consented to having that kind of rough sex with him - not whether she has had sex a lot or would likely have eventually consented to having sex with him. In other words, i think the focus from the prosecution's standpoint will be more on the physical abuse, the rough sex, than on what we traditionally think of as rape (ie, a completely unwilling/innocent woman being suddenly attacked out of the blue).

Lets just say I know lots of girls like her. And yes, they were raped. I avoid these threads for that very reason. Which is why I am going now. You know lots of girls who routinely attempt suicide, and, after sleeping with everyone in sight, check superstar athletes into the furthest wings of empty hotels while checking his bodyguards into the opposite wing, then sneak up to his room the backway expecting the athlete to "put the moves on her" then cry rape to the coworkets their sleeping with??
I pity you.

...I referred to bleeding enough to leave smears on his shirt. And you are STILL mischaracterizing it; it plainly says "streaks," with no mention of the size in the judge's ruling. And it was discovered by the LAB with a microscope so how big could it be??

The defense cannot ask her, since she has not been on the stand. How would the defense know? I am just suggesting the possibility that this could be one reason. Or, his penetration could have jumpstarted a period...it can occur.

To: marajade
No, but I doubt you have read all mine either. Not relevant.
What is, is that some of you, in the face of overwhelming information refuse to consider that Kobe might not be guilty of rape. Some of you still call the accuser 'victim' though that wont be determined until the case is decided.
I've gone out of my way to avoid these posts, but for some dumb reason I hopped in. Allow me to hop right back out. Life is too short.
