[history]
I lay awake in bed for three hours straight this Thursday, panicking that I have become way too choosy when it comes to blind dates. After all, isn't New York full of lonely women in their 30s who think no one is good enough?

The main difference between these sluts and real female 30-something Manhattan yuppies is that real men in NYC genuinely do not want to have sex with them. The nerosis and and shallowness are spot-on however.

"What party do you belong to, and who did you vote for in the 1996 and 2000 elections?" It would save so much time. Right. Of course you won't find many dates who meet the criteria. Probably none. Most of the women who could answer correctly are already into committment, have a family, wouldn't be dating anyway due to already having a life. The rest are into women's issues and you shouldn't be dating them anyway unless you really know what Existentialism is.

What is it about NYC that breeds so many neurotic people? Is it partly the fact that people figure that in a city that large, one can afford to be picky (and conversely, other people will be picky about THEM as well)? Seinfeld certainly captured the 'zeitgeist' of neurotic New Yorkers. Maybe that's why I could barely stand to watch the show. I could take it in small doses, spaced out over time.

I suppose some things are universal Southern and Latin women are not as confused as a rule. They expect you to be the man and they will get their way more tactfully. Not all, but most. Thankfully.

There's the problem Bridget...your dependence on someone else making you feel great.

No, he assured me, adding that he thought Ariel Sharon was an ass......and loved soccer. Oh, well see, he's queer. That's the problem.

:sigh: I watch Single in NY and Single in LA and wonder how these women will ever get any man. About politics, it's okay to be a bit different BUT too very divergent points of view could cause problems. I could never go out with a liberal metrosexual. That's why I found a Ted Kennedy special... a neanderthal conservative.

The worst, abaolute worst kind of woman to get involved with is the kind that constantly compares you (unfavorably) to an "ex." Then you ask (I actually do this) why they aren't still with him and the hemming and hawing starts.
There was a great line in Prizzis Honor where Kathleen Turner is going on and on about her dead husband (Marxie) and how he was so much smarter than Jack Nicholson, and Nicholson finally snaps and says, Yeah, well if Marxie was so f#*kin' smart, why is he so f#*kin' dead?

in my humble opinion: this gal is a total bitch. Oh excuse me, were you not asking for an opinion? Beware those who choose to test someone may get tested themselves.DING DING DING! We have a winner!
I wonder how many of those remaining prefabricated "ten dates before Christmas" have called and canceled on her now that they know they'll just be column fodder for a narcissist.

Such is as it should be for a real, live princess.
I can't help wonder whether the author(ess) was trying to be humorous or also is a world-class puke in real life.

That means the NY Post bought it. And since I buy the Post everyday, that means I partially funded a lousy date between a rapidly aging bitter leftist and a fey metrosexual cheapskate. Thats a bonus!
Well, look on the bright side - at least it didn't get donated to Hitlery!'s campaign (yeah, I know, she's absolutely positively NOT running).

"How bothered should I have been?" I think you over reacted; and I'm glad I have only one date these days (my awesome wife). Okay... how about...communicating! Let the guy know you felt a little used, ask if he wouldn't mind going out again so that he can buy so you can dine and dash. See if he reacts by communicating back with you. Understand each others fears and needs. Blather blah. Hopefully it works out.
You sound pleasant enough but I think I'd be afraid to date someone like you. In fact, I never would have "dated" my wife because I would have flunked. We were friends first, without all that courting nonesense... why not forget dating/interviewing boys? Find some friends (male and female) in the "right" sorts of places, and I promise sparks will fly when the time is right.
