the Stryker is an IFV if your enemy makes it one.
Outstanding point, which I wish the powers-that-be could be made to understand. The M113 started out life in 1962 as a battle taxi, and Charlie pointed out the shortcomings of that idea, thus the ACAV.
I think the Stryker is going to sprout free guns and gun shields, and riders on top, and if the chain of command fights that program they are going to have problems.

I personally think that units will start parking Strykers about 5km away from where they are told to and try to blend into the terrain well before they hit the FEBA. The Strryker needs to sprout a LOSAT or a Bushmaster. A freakin' TOW or Javalin at the very least.

Wow! I'm at a loss for words, but do have one question.
IF, after traveling through the tank skirt, then through everything else, the projectile buried itself 1 1/2 to 2" deep into the hull, did they recover the projectile and examine it, or did it just become part of the hull?

5k's? May as well ride 2 1/2T's if that is all the closer they can take them. And the concept of a FEBA assumes a defined front and rear area. I got an email from Michael Gilbert, an embed with 3/2 from the Tacoma Tribune, and he says he will be watching for the things sceptics have been fussing about.

OR, it might have been George Felos using his powerful mind to do this. After all, he CAN bring down an airplane, according to him.

There are a number of weapons sold by the Russians that look like possibilities. RPG 29 and others appear to share a dual stage fairly modern shaped charge warhead, and there are other new type weapons using what appears to be an improved single stage shaped charge warhead. ROSOBORONEXPORT web site appears to be down or I'd leave a link.

How many different steel compositions are used in the armoring of a M1A1 to defeat a HESH round?

This is classified information. There is much speculation on the net, if you are curious. Try "chobham armor".

Thanks for the link, looks like it'll be an interesting read.
What effect would a UD projectile with another smaller flat faced projectile behind it have on armor plating? I thought of this because if the spacing defeats HESH rounds, would something like this give the UD projectile a double punch?

"Several mysterious catastrophes occurred with helicopters and small planes over the past years, when famous politicians, military and public figures tragically died.
