One human chimera came to light when a 52-year-old woman demanded an explanation from doctors after tests showed that two of her three grown-up sons were biologically unrelated to her.
Although the woman, "Jane", conceived them naturally with her husband, tests to see if she could donate a kidney suggested that somehow she had given birth to somebody else's children.
A study in the New England Journal of Medicine by Dr Margot Kruskall, of the Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Centre in Boston, Massachusetts, showed that Jane is a chimera, a mixture of two individuals - non-identical twin sisters - whose cells intermingled in the womb and grew into a single body.
Dr Kruskall believes the most likely explanation is that Jane's mother conceived non-identical twin girls, who fused at an early stage of the pregnancy to form a single embryo, according to a report published today in New Scientist.
For some reason, cells from only one twin dominate in Jane's blood - used for tissue-typing. In her other tissues, however, including her ovaries, cells of both twins live amicably alongside each other, hence the apparently impossible genetics of her three sons.
One son came from an egg derived from the twin whose cells dominate Jane's blood, while his brothers came from eggs derived from the other twin's cells.
Around 30 similar instances of chimerism have been reported, and there are probably many more who will never discover their unusual origins. Most chimeras probably go through life unaware of their unusual constitution.
Don't mind him, he always talks dirty when he's been drinking.
So one day we'll have winged horses, mermaids, minotaurs and centaurs? :)
One can only hope
The aliens abducted her and impregnated her with zygotes of the super race. It's plain as the nose on your face.
Ockhams Razor suggests maybe the technology involved is WRONG...
did I say WRONG... SLAP SLAP... bad poster,, BAD poster..
What this *really* means is that using DNA for identification purposes is NOT 100% foolproof. This lady has two different DNA types in her body. Anyone who is being convicted or freed on the basis of DNA alone should take note.
That is more a description of power and authority (having the final say) than it is having a physical manifestation. Hence why He said "flesh and blood cannot enter the kingdom of Heaven" and "the angels in Heaven are not given to marriage", and of course the reason to marry is to have children/sex/love, etc.
"As far as the heavens are above the earth, so are my ways above your ways"
Agreed, God does not have genitalia as we know it, because He is Spirit. But since He chooses to call Himself by male names/terms, I shall do the same.
They don't care about accuracy, as scores of stories have shown. They want fantastic headlines that they can partially support with vaguely worded essays.
It's far more incredible, and thus profitable, to splash "I'm not related to my birth-child" across the page than it is to note that "this woman's has a birth-child whose genetic test results would not indicate that it is a direct lineal descendant, if her DNA is taken from her blood rather than her organs."
Science ain't sexy enough for Journalism majors, so that have to ignore pesky little things like logic, factual headlines, or respecting both sides of a story.
She's a mutation...
I don't know about X-Files, but C.S.I. did a show that involved a chimera case. Good stuff.
Wow...this thread is 3 years old! How did it get resurrected?

There is only one soul, as there is only one body. The soul IMHO isn’t infused until later.
But still at conception it is a human being and thus should be protected, it is after all a baby.
Shouldn’t you be trolling on another site more suited to your leftist beliefs?
