The court had no choice. He failed to perform his duties within the law.
He does have the right to appeal.

He can appeal to the Alabama Supreme Court. It gets trickier because some or all of the justices have a conflict of interest because they worked with Moore, so the Governor (or someone else) would have to appoint substitute justices.

I love how the judge invoked contrition etc in his decision.

Well, I think the whole episode was pretty much ado about nothing, and that he should have been allowed to keep the monument where it was. However, and I am probably in the minority here, I agree with his removal.

I think you are joking, but we need to organize and boycott these people who want to take God out of everything. I was listening to Mike Gallegar today, he saide there are lawyers arguing about taking out the nativity from schools but allowing Jewish and other religous symbols, anything but Christian.. I read today the Red Cross in Britain has forbidden the Jesus from their organization during Christmas.... It is time for organization.

Panel Rules Justice Moore.....Why a panel? In most states wouldn't be up to the legislature to impeach and remove the judge from office?

I already boycott Alabama. Haven't been there in 30 years.

If some pissant Justice of the Peace had defied an order of Judge Moore's, the Judge would have had his butt in jail for contempt as quickly as he could get ahold of him. He would further, rightly, have tried to have him disbarred.
The courts have been very lenient with Moore because he is an obvious lunatic.
