More good news.
I'm sure if the Reps win here too, we will hear it is just another example of that supposed anti-incompetent wave from our "non-biased" press, right?

Jindal 47%, Blanco 38%

The lead only slightly exceeds the MOE on both. Too bad the sample size was so small.

How reliable has this poll been in the past?

I was astounded, walking across Jackson Square a few days ago, to see a "Jindal" sign on one of the artists' easels there!
Then I saw a young black man walking down Bourbon wearing a Jindal 'T'-shirt!!!
I think Jindal's got it wrapped up.

He needs a 10% margin to beat the corruption at the polls. Let's cross our fingers, it looks as if he's getting it.

Hooray! This is a new breath for Louisiana! Wonder how this will affect Breaux' decision to run or not.

Good news, thanks for posting.
By the way, to the poster who decried the small sample, 667 is a substantial sample size, as reflected in the fairly small MOE of 3.9% with a 95% confidence level. Even a sample size 300 is considered generally reliable in the polling trade.

Terry McAwful Spin: "The Jindal victory in LA reveals how powerful the minority vote is. Republicans, the party of Neo-Confederates, will be voted out of office next year due to a surge of minorities registering to vote."

I don't think the anti-incumbent argument will work. Isn't the outgoing Gov. Foster a Republican? Sorry McAwful.
But maybe with a Jindal win we'll get to see Carville with a trash can on his head again.

Jindal has rahter equal favorables and unfavorables among African-Americans. I hope Jindal can win over 15% of the African-American vote. Let's watch Terry cry.

Election is the 15th, i.e., Saturday. Republican governor now.

Jindal is peaking at the right time. Blanco is shooting blanks big time.

Most of the other polls show Jindal up by a similar margin, so they seem to support one another. Jindal seems to be one of those rising stars nationally for the party.

It's going to happen, and he may take a lot more than 15% of the black vote.
I've been listening to talk radio all week and there is something very unique happening down here in Louisiana. The reliable 90% black vote to Democrats is going up in smoke big time. The split could be as much as 75-25 in this election. And if so, Blanco is toast.
The splintering of the black vote is palpable. You see it, you hear it, you feel it. I'm just praying the election results bear it out.

There are a lot of issues that should have caused old-school traditional churchgoing blacks to have splintered from the Dems long ago. These fissures, over issues like homosexual marriage, and support for the military, are coming to a breaking point.

I really hope you're right about the black vote. I grew up in LA and continue to follow from afar political developments in my beloved home state. This election is a clear choice between business-as-usual and taking a gutsy, innovative step forward. Ordinarily I would expect Louisianians to choose the former by a wide margin. But there seems to be something different to this election. Something exciting in the air. Maybe I'm just getting my hopes up, and we'll all know for sure after Saturday, but is it possible that Louisiana is finally turning a corner on its ignoble political past?
