Anyone hear about this?

"The Universal National Service Act of 2003 "amends the Military Selective Service Act to authorize the military registration of females" and declares "that it is the obligation of every U.S. citizen, and every other person residing in the United States, between the ages of 18 and 26 to perform a two-year period of national service"

The Rangel-Hollings legislation (H.R. 163 in the House and S.89 in the Senate) would re-institute a draft to compulsory military or alternative national service for men and women, aged 18 to 26, who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States of America.

Just did a Google search and found the following:

The Universal National Service Act of 2003

Introduced by Representative Rangel and Senator Hollings

The Rangel-Hollings legislation (H.R. 163 in the House and S.89 in the Senate) would re-institute a draft to compulsory military or alternative national service for men and women, aged 18 to 26, who are citizens or permanent residents of the United States of America.

The bill:

Defines "national service" as either military or civilian service as defined by the President that promotes national or homeland security.

Gives the President authority to establish the numbers of persons to be selected for military service and the means of selection.

Requires those not selected for military service to perform their national service obligation in a civilian capacity for the same duration as those selected for military service (two years in most cases).

Directs the President to prescribe the regulations necessary to carry out the Act, including:

types of civilian service eligible to meet the national service requirement;

means and manner of induction to service;

criteria for eligibility for service;

criteria for exemption from service;

all other administrative matters in connection with induction of persons under this Act and the registration, examination and classification of such persons.

Allows the President to use for the purposes of the Act the procedures provided in the Military Selective Service Act (50 U.S.C.App. 451 et seq.) including procedures for registration, selection, and induction but specifically requires the registration and selection for national service of women as well as men and seeks to strictly limit the grounds for exemption from national service to physical disability and consciencious objection.

Allows educational deferments for High School, but only until age 20.

Yeah, and its the obligation of every free person to fight to their dying breath those who would enslave them.

"National Service" is a pathetic euphamism for SLAVERY and the author of this bill is welcome to come to my house and try to crack his whip on me.

108th CONGRESS

1st Session

H. R. 163

To provide for the common defense by requiring that all young persons in the United States, including women, perform a period of military service or a period of civilian service in furtherance of the national defense and homeland security, and for other purposes.

IN THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

January 7, 2003
Mr. RANGEL (for himself, Mr. MCDERMOTT, Mr. CONYERS, Mr. LEWIS of Georgia, Mr. STARK, and Mr. ABERCROMBIE) introduced the following bill; which was referred to the Committee on Armed Services.

I'm not sure of it's current status. Still searching. I don't think it would go anywhere. It's just a Democrat starting trouble for Bush. I think he's the one who wanted the draft?

Many public schools require community service before students get their diplomas. This was implemented during the Clinton era. Don't think there isn't a reason for that implementation because there is a reason behind everything. It's to get kids used to the fact that they will become "citizen/servants" as Pres. Clinton likes to call them.

I think you mean "euphemism". Don't worry your pretty little head, though, the bill won't pass. But, you do need a little help with word definitions it appears. Slaves aren't paid for starters. Good try though!

Thanks for catching my typo.

Slaves aren't paid for starters.

Slavery is not defined by compensation. It is solely contingent upon its involuntary nature.

I don't think so. Remember who this would affect. It's the "CHILDREN". We all know that the little snotnoses learn from birth that the Sun rises and sets on their little skulls of jello. A period of military style service could bring a some reality to their sheltered pathetic little lives that would make them more responsible.

I hire teenagers for Summer work for my business, you wouldn't believe the attitude some of these kids possess. I've wanted to take a few of them out back to the woodshed and "learn" them a little respect. Perhaps something like this might help.

From the article: "between the ages of 18 and 26"

A period of military style service could bring a some reality to their sheltered pathetic little lives that would make them more responsible.

The purpose of government is to uphold our rights, not to indoctrinate us as they see fit. This bill does nothing but violate our rights. It matters to me not one bit whether the person who wants to enslave me is American or foreign. I would react no differently if some Washington politico tried it than I would if Osama himself came to my house to make me his surf.

I've wanted to take a few of them out back to the woodshed and "learn" them a little respect.

Why don't you simply fire them?

It certainly **should** be D.O.A. -- it violates the express language of the 13th Amendment, which prohibits involuntary servitude except as punishment for criminal offenses.

However, with the crowd of clowns now sitting in the Regress, what odds that any of them have ever even read the 13th?
