Many public schools require community service before students get their diplomas. This was implemented during the Clinton era. Don't think there isn't a reason for that implementation because there is a reason behind everything. It's to get kids used to the fact that they will become "citizen/servants" as Pres. Clinton likes to call them.

Thanks for your comments. I had just read an article dated 11/11/2003 from a website that FR does not allow the posting of articles. It was written by Berit Kjos and some others. Sounded to me like it might be revived as I haven't heard what the status of this bill is.
