Boy Scout Leader Arrested For Sexual Assault

An assistant Boy Scout leader from Cherry Hill, N.J., is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 15-year-old boy.

Jason Rosner, 23, was charged Sunday with aggravated sexual assault and child endangerment. He is a self-employed landscaper who is also a Cherry Hill, N.J., volunteer firefighter, police said.

The complaint alleges that Rosner engaged the boy in sex acts on multiple occasions in September and October 2003 at the defendant's home, the victim's home and a Cherry Hill hotel.

The charges carry a maximum prison term of 35 years if Rosner is convicted.

Rosner was being held in lieu of $50,000 bail, cash or bond at the Camden County Correctional Facility. No court appearance was scheduled as of Monday afternoon.

Seriously, no single guy should WANT to be going camping with boys. I'll make exceptions for Big Brothers and the odd case where a young man acts as a father figure for a troubled kid. But if I were a Scoutmaster, I'd be leery of some guy just showing up wanting to come on camping trips.

If I ever have boys, I'll get them into Scouting.

When my scout troop went on a trip, my Dad was always there as a chaperone, as were 20% of the fathers, just to play it safe.

Maybe parents today need to put in more time like this.

Jailed drama teacher also gives notice

Boerne High School drama teacher Le Lan Jones, who was arrested last week on three felony sexual offense charges, submitted his resignation to Boerne ISD administrators Friday, Oct. 24.

Kendall County Sheriff's deputies recently charged Jones, 38, with three felony offenses - sexual assault, indecency with a child, and an improper relationship between an educator and a student. He is being held in the Kendall County Jail with a $180,000 bond.

"We have received the resignation of Le Lan Jones on Friday," Superintendent Dr. John Kelly said.

Trustees will act on Jones's resignation at the board's Nov. 17 meeting, Kelly said.

Kendall County Pct. 3 Justice of the Peace Debbie Hudson said all three charges stem from an alleged incident between a Boerne student and the high school drama teacher at Jones's house, Aug. 8.

Jones has retained attorney Wayne Crocker.

Jones has taught drama at BHS since 1990. The school district suspended Jones with pay on Oct. 15.

The student was a teenage male.

This is a small community in the Texas hill country about 25 miles north of San Antonio. At what rate is this happening across the country?

Priests, Pastors, Teachers, ScoutLeaders, Coaches, Etc all hold positions of trust. When they violate that trust there should be very severe consequences for them.

The consequences deal with the individual violator but do not rebuild the lost trust in the institutions and organizations.

Didn't Sentator Santorum say this was going to create a slippery slope where unacceptable things were going to start happening behind closed doors, and as long as no one squeeled, it would be fine? I think he's been proved right in his concerns. And he sure took a lot of grief for voicing them.
