This thread serves as a place for posting all new general information and references, along with links following Terri's case, plus information on cable news and talk radio shows dealing with the issue, court cases and press releases. This is also the place to post contact information, prayers and general discussion.

If you have something that qualifies as BREAKING NEWS or FRONT PAGE NEWS, please post it on a separate thread in that category in order to give it maximum exposure and then post a link to the article/thread here so that it will be included in the next update of links. Also, if you post links to articles from original sources and there is also a thread on FR, please link to the FR thread. Many original links become corrupt over time and we want to be able to access the information at will.

There was a tremendous amount of information posted on the previous thread. For anyone who hasn't been following the daily threads, links to relevant posts and information from the previous thread are contained in the body of the present one. I have found that very helpful in trying to find something later. You people are doing a spectacular job of getting information out and also in helping to keep all of us updated here. What a great joint effort. This fight, to me, illustrates beautifully what Free Republic is about and what it means to be a FReeper. Way to go FRiends. Keep up the good work!

After looking at it, the most I can come up with is that Michael and Jodi need to keep a lawyer on permanent retainer. They both sure have seen a lot of court time.

"If these same bioethicists were so concerned over the meaning life has, then they would be rushing to endorse that some doctors actually are trying to improve the "quality of life" for the disabled, yet all they (the bioethicists) do is talk, talk, talk."

And all they talk talk talk about is more ways to justify having people put down like dogs. I read a link to an article by one of these bio(un)ethicists - I think it might have been Singer - that suggested euthanasia for those with a chronic condition that won't get better on its own after five years, and wouldn't require treatment after that. He left it completely open ended. It could be applied to millions of people.

Guess what? It would apply to me and many others. I'm middle aged, but still mobile and active, still take care of my family, etc. Yet I have a chronic condition that could be debilitating in a relatively short time, and eventually fatal, if not for that medicine I take every morning. The condition will never get better on its own, much less in five years. That criterion for euthanasia could be applied to me, and millions of others, very easily. And there will be many more people in just a few more years.

Oh yeah, it could happen - ever since these threads started, the idea of the "slippery slope" has been present or implied at all times.

I copied this from a Sunday, June 3, 2001 article in “The Times,” entitled "Fund for medical care for Schiavo dwindles"

“Records show that George Felos, Michael Schiavo’s litigation attorney, has been paid more than $200,000 since 1997. Another Schiavo attorney, Deborah Bushnell, got $27,000. Schiavo himself was reimbursed almost $6,000 for legal costs.

“Other expenses include private aides, security guards hired after the publicity led to a ruckus outside Mrs. Schiavo’s nursing home and a lawyer appointed by a judge to represent Mrs. Schiavo in court.”

“In April 1993, Mrs. Schiavo’s money was valued at $776,254, court records show. By April 1998, it was down to $713,825.

”The money, managed first by Barnett Bank and now South Trust Bank, was invested in blue chip stocks, such as Coca-Cola, Walt Disney and Proctor & Gamble; corporate and U.S. Treasury bonds and a money market account."

A portfolio such as that could have earned $70,000 a year or more. Especially during the mid to late 1990's. It cost $3,000 to $5,000 a month to live in a nursing home.

Now, "April 1998, it was down to $713,825." Still, let's say the interest is down to $60,000 a year since then (on that figure).

I don't think anyone as cunning/crooked as MS is, that he would allowed all those stocks, bonds, money market account, whatever else, be drained or sold just to pay Felos. I doubt seriously if "Jodi's house" was paid for in cash.

Outside of Felos and his team of ""death creators," what other large payments would there be? Certainly not ho$pice care!

And how long had Felos been working for him in 1998?

It is strange that a big name like Jerger would be willing to be directors for an insurance company that has always been inactive. It's like they set the company up in anticipation of a future event.

Heavenly Father, we return to give You thanks that there is rest this night for Your children ~ grant that we would awaken refreshed and renewed and ready for the tasks set before us this day.

We continue to plead Terri's cause before You, merciful Father ... though confined as she is, speak to her in thoughts and words that comfort her and encourage her .. renew her spirit with every visit and every word from her beloved family .. may those who tend her do so with compassion and understanding .. protect her from any and all evil that would approach her bedside. Fill her room with warmth and sunshine and things that delight her soul .. turn her prison into a sanctuary wherein dwells the Most High.

This day, Father, those learned in law will meet to argue the merits of Terri's Law. Thank You, Father, for prompting the legislators into action on behalf of this mother's child. Grace the attorneys for the State of Florida with all wisdom and knowledge .. may they be totally prepared to make defense and may their arguments prevail. May those arguments that would bring death to Terri be found to be totally lacking in merit .. reveal their presentation to be a naked attempt to kill a defenseless woman, whose only charge against her is one of disability. Turn back this evil, I pray, O God, for the forces of darkness would sweep away all who fail to meet standards of perfection. Reveal as exceedingly cruel the method of execution ~ starvation and dehydration ~ cause the people to recoil in horror as the truth is brought before the nation. Have mercy on us, Father, for even having the thought of such murderous activity. Pierce the hearts of those merchants of death who would be involved .. may they repent and claim the redemption of Jesus Christ, before it is too late.

Strengthen Terri's beloved family, Heavenly Father, for they have become weary and exhausted. May this week of rest be a source of refreshment for them. Continue to bring many people alongside who can assist them .. give Terri's legal team unlimited access to the most learned attorneys .. encourage them in their unceasing efforts to release this defenseless woman from those who have condemned her. Grant them their petition to have Michael removed as guardian .. supernaturally deny him access to Terri, that he be constrained from harming her in any way, for he has made it plain that he seeks an end to her life. May those who are charged with fact finding add credence to the petition that he not hold sway over her any longer. Vindicate this family, O Lord, who have fought so long to care for this daughter and sister .. return her to them for a natural length of days, in the name of Jesus, I pray.

Continue to bring to light, Creator God, all the information that is needed to expose this conspiracy of death that seeks to ensnare the infirm and disabled. Reach far into records and companies and into the lives of those who would profit in some way in the manipulation of life and death. Give a commitment to Your people to continue, for the enemy would count on complacency. Thank You for Gideon's small, faithful band ... thank You for David's small, smooth stones ... thank You for Daniel's safekeeping in the lion's den ... may it be thus, Lord, that You would deem us useful in turning back this evil tide ... not by merit of our own, but by the Grace of Almighty God, in whose name we pray, Amen ...

I've been running through this thread rather hurridly. Seems like I've been about 24 hours behind on this thread all week, so I've just been sort of skimming. This is the first time I've gotten caught up since last Saturday (We've been dropping like flies around here with the flu all week, but I think were all done now). Plus, my mom wound up in the hospital with pneumonia. But she's back home now and doing fine.

Case inspires Escalon man

Escalon songwriter John Strand has composed another ballad ripped from the headlines. The 52-year-old prison guard has written "Who Will Feed Me?" about Terri Schiavo, the severely brain-damaged Florida woman who is the center of a right-to-die battle.

Strand -- who also has written songs about Laci Peterson, Sept. 11 and the recent recall election -- wrote from Schiavo's perspective. The chorus is: "Who will feed me if I cannot feed myself? Who will love me when I'm fighting for my health? Who will touch me, me in your arms I pray you take. 'Cause I want to see your face again, the day that I awake." Strand called it "a pro-life song." It has been played on "Right On With Steve Wampler" on Oakdale's 770 AM radio. Tuesday, Strand performed on Sacramento's "Armstrong and Getty" talk show, simulcast on KQCA Television Channel 58 and radio station 650 AM, when the show was broadcast from Modesto. Schiavo's husband fought to have her feeding tube removed, saying his wife did not want to be kept alive artificially. Her parents dispute the claim and believe she could be rehabilitated.

Don't you think it is odd that Michale S. ended (in Terri's case tries to end) the lives of the three persons closest to him -- his parents and his wife? And his mother was not old. It makes me wonder how all three ended up needing a feeding tube in the first place.

This reminded me of the Michael Peterson murder case. A great deal was made of the fact that two women last seen in his company both died the same way -- an alleged fall from the stairs and both were initially dismissed as accident. Questions weren't raised about the first case until some 18 years later when a second woman died in exactly the same way.

What did Jodi sue for? Any pictures of her? The faces of those two should be plastered all over the media. Those two lovebirds give me the creeps.

I wish an investigation of Terri's "accident" would be reopened.

I am assuming you are referring to the sunbiz.org link----I haven't looked at it yet because it's an executable file.....at least for me. I can't just see the link. Is this what it does on your computer?

As far as your statement, that would indeed be very suspicious, IMO.

This is very interesting....there are 3 criminal cases listed for MS...but when I try to get more info, it says there are no cases....hmmmmm?
