(Goose Creek) Nov. 7, 2003 - Students in Goose Creek say they were minding their own business on Thursday when the police burst into Stratford High School with guns drawn.
A full police raid interrupted classes, and drug sniffing dogs brought in indicated the presence of an illegal narcotic.
One student was handcuffed as a result while his back pack was searched. No drugs, however, were actually found, and no arrests were made.
The incident infuriated many parents, who say the children were treated like criminals. The school's principal says the raid sends a clear message to the students that those who bring drugs to school could wind up in jail.
School officials say there have been at least four cases of students bringing drugs to school, and they stand behind the decision to call in the police.

LOL! Goose Creek [where]? If it's in SC, all you're hearing is the howling of privileged parents whose little snookums should have been doing something better with their time.

Happened the exact same way in Grosse Ile, Michigan not too long ago. GI is an affluent suburb of Detroit. Drug dogs from a number of nearby communities were hauled in, all the students were sent to the gym for the afternoon and the dogs went locker to locker.
Cops found one pipe and a few packs of cigs.
Oh, the cops also found permanent resentment from 1000 young people.

They had a picture on TV this AM.
Cops, some with Swat type outfits, heads masked, guns pulled, pulling stuff out of lockers, while children lined up on one side.
Wassamatta? Wasn't the DARE program effective?
Looked like overkill to me. But since no dope was found, did the students know about it?

Good point. This may actually be a blessing in disguise as it teaches the children the government is their enemy and cannot be trusted.

There's probably someone at the local mall with some unapproved drugs on them, better detain everyone there.

I wonder if the school board is elected or ruled by the police. Seems that all of the govt organizations stick up for each other no matter what.
