It appears that there is a fair amount of FREE parking - on many of the local surface streets.
I recommend that you FIRST look on the west side of Crescent, where we will be gathering.
The EAST side of that stret is "No Parking at ANY TIME."

MEDIA ADVISORY

FREE REPUBLIC TO PROTEST DAN RATHER AWARD
PRESS CONFERENCE AND PROTEST SCHEDULED

LOS ANGELES, CA – Ron Smith, Leader of the Free Republic Chapter of Los Angeles, announced today that their organization will hold a rally to protest the Museum of Television and Radio's decision to honor CBS news anchor Dan Rather for his "steadfast commitment to fair and accurate news reporting" at their annual awards dinner Monday night at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

From his depiction of Reagan voters as "children having a tantrum", his refusal to tell America the truth about Bill and Hillary Clinton to his powder puff interviews of American enemies like Saddam Hussein, Kim Jong Il and Fidel Castro, Dan Rather has proven he is neither fair nor accurate. He has used his position as CBS anchor to manipulate the truth and provide cover for leftwing causes and the politically correct. The only thing Dan Rather should be honored for is being the least trustworthy network anchor and leading CBS EVENING NEWS to the ratings cellar.

DATE:MONDAY NOVEMBER 10, 2003
TIME: 6:00-8:00 PM
LOCATION: BEVERLY HILLS HOTEL
9641 SUNSET BOULEVARD
BEVERLY HILLS, CA 90210

The press conference and protest will begin promptly at 6:00pm.

For additional information or to schedule an interview please contact Mr. Smith at (310) 416-9155.

His most egregious sin and that which completely upset the Republic, was calling the election in Florida for Gore before polls closed in the Panhandle. There was lots of discussion here about precisely how many votes thet cost President Bush, but there is no doubt that there would have been no question of a close race if Dan had not decietfully acted as he did.

He deserves the condemnation of American History for this act alone.

From the piece:

"Museum of Television and Radio will be honoring Dan Rather "

If only the museum was stuffing Rather, and placing him on display.

I come to see that..!!

This Monday the Museum of Television and Radio will be honoring Dan Rather at the Beverly Hills Hotel for his life long commitment to fair and balanced news reporting.

This is beyond laughable.

Rather should get the media bias award.

Giving Komrade Ratherinsky such an award is like bestowing the UN Humanitarian Award upon "Uncle Joe" STALIN, no?

Joseph GOEBBELS, Hitler's Propaganda Minister, would have been proud to call Rather his "Son", I opine.

Don't forget what Komrade Dan has done for the Second Ammendment over the years, too!

Hey!; I didn't see "Babs" Streisand or Hanoi Jane on the list of honored guests; surely they have been invited?

How about Bill and Hellary? Aren't they and Rather the best of friends?

Hopefully, the majority of senscient American People are beginning to see this phony-baloney plastic-bananna good-time rock-'n-roll dope-sucking bunch of elitist snobs for who they really are, and stop taking them the least bit seriously, if they ever have to begin with.

IF ol' Dan is fair and balanced, then why is cbs losing viewers and ad revenue daily?

When I first started reading that bit, I was waiting for the punch line. But NOooo ! lol !

Rather's eagerness to put the issue to rest is understandable. The event, fueled by rumor and gossip, has dogged him. The rock band R.E.M. turned the cryptic mugging into a song, "What's the Frequency, Kenneth?" Rather's curious misfortune has clearly entered the public consciousness and become a touchstone for a generation. I'm sure he would like it to go away, and there are undoubtedly many out there who would like to help Mr. Rather in this effort.

I found this a long time ago and have posted it quite a few times.

I remember Dan Rather.
He was always tough to take, and I finally gave up watching his newscast back in them olden days before cable and satellite. Of course, the Canadian socialist Jennings was nearly as bad, and Brokaw was also too liberal, although he usually had more class than the other two. (By the way, what are those guys doing these days? I know Brokaw turned to writing books....)

I never heard of this "Museum of Television and Radio", but clearly the people who run that thing are a mischievous pack of pranksters for selecting Rather for a "Fair and Balanced" award. The whole thing sounds to me like they are trying to take a jab at Fox News, to be honest. So now these funny scumbags have gone and turned this "Museum" into a laughingstock with no integrity or credibility. Well, good riddance. I think the joke will be on them.

Don't be so sure about that. Look at what happened with CBS and their Reagan hit piece.

they also got spanked over their two part series ,The Dark Side of Homeschooling. Congress even sent them a letter about it. Sponsors dropped out of the second part.

Does the Media know about the letter from Congress expressing their displeasure over the the Dark Side of Homeschooling. I know it isn't that big of a deal, but do all network news anchors who are being honored for being fair and balanced have that on "their record"?

It depends on the definition of the words "fair" and "balanced". In their lexicon, it's "fair" to demonize conservatives and "balanced" if you censor their opinions. Therefore, Rather is the epitome of "fair and balanced." </dem-parse>
