Celebrations Erupt Across Arab World after US Chopper Crash

Cairo, Egypt-AP -- There are celebrations reported across the Arab world, after the news of more American casualties in Iraq.

Resistance to the occupation is applauded by some who see it as proof that Iraqis weren't totally humiliated by the relative ease of the U-S-led coalition's toppling of Saddam Hussein.

Many Arabs had warned an invasion of Iraq could drag the region into chaos. In Damascus today, foreign ministers from countries bordering Iraq again called on the U-S to restore order in that country.

"If we, theoretically, dropped a bomb on those people celebrating our soldiers' deaths, would it hurt our campaign to win the hearts and minds of our enemies?"

Hey, it wouldn't really matter, since their hearts would stop beating and their minds would be all splattered about.

That's mean isn't it?

We need to give them 24 hour notice and wipe that area off the map.

I agree, except for the 24 hour part.

Occupation?

Don't you mean liberation?

Iraqis?

Don't you mean "Husseinites"?

God Bless America, the lost troops and their families.

My thoughts and prayers are with them.

That day can come sooner when we develop a way to get the envronmentalist religion out of our government and allow this country to drill for oil here. By all accounts their is plenty of it. The environmental and global elites idea that industry can only be allowed in third world countries is destroying world stability.

The best day of my life will be when we develop cold fusion, or some other way of producing energy that gets us off oil.

Ironic isn't it that the left who screams "no blood for oil" won't allow us to produce our own, thus freeing us from dependence on Middle Eastern oil?

There is a concerted effort by the GOP to court the growing moslem vote for 2004.

There is concerted effort by the gov't to portray Islam as a religion of peace.

There is a long sustained campaign on the part of moslems to paint the Mid-East problems as an outgrowth of zionist imperialism.

Yet, in reality, all three of the following efforts are attempts to spin false ideas into reality. It's an illusion that should have been shattered by
9-11 attacks.

Will we wake up? I hope we do.

There are celebrations reported across the Arab world, after the news of more American casualties in Iraq.

This is a very thinly-sourced "news" article. No identification is made of who, exactly, is doing the celebrating, how that came to the attention of the reporter, how widespread the sentiment is alleged to be, or other concrete details. Was this based on some reporter's own observations? Was this something seen on TV? Was there an editorial in a fundamentalist or a government-operated newspaper?

You could literally drop a bomb were the State Department to issue a travel advisory on Egypt. Egypt lives by tourism so even the hint that the country is not safe would be incredibly damaging and have an effect in Europe as well as the US. You could also do the same for Morocco, Lebanon, the United Arab Emirates, etc. Don't expect it, however, for nearly a century the State Department has been represented by palace eunuchs who support the Arab cause.

Yep. If we drill here, they'll starve.
It's time we went back to putting America first.

"...If we, theoretically, dropped a bomb on those people celebrating our soldiers' deaths...[sic]"

Bomb them with what? More "Culturally Sensitive Ready-to Eat-Meals"?

When we stop this stupid "politically correct" crap we will have a chance to win this war. Otherwise we are doomed.

There is no winning the hearts and minds of these people. They dont respect us at all. They see us as weak, and the truth is that we are.

This attack emboldens them further and brings more into the fold. No amount of "good will" on our part is going to reverse this. They are winning and they know it.

The ONLY way to reverse this and bring any possible measure of hope is to let the so-called moderates do it.

Bomb every single one of them until the moderates (aka sympathizers) themselves are hunting down the extremists in their own religion and either killing them or begging them to stop.

No doubt not unlike Viet Nam, the "so-called good guys" know and protect the bad guys...

I agree completely, and has anyone else noticed the more we turn ovr to the Iraquis, the more attacks we are suffering? Are we so blind we can't realize we are being set up? Even the Iraquis who genuinely want to support the coalition must be under tremendous pressure to provide intelligence, police cars, police uniforms, flight information, etc.
