Harrington and McMahon. Sigh. I thought the Lions had finally signed an impact QB. Sigh. They are incapable of developing a QB. Must be something in the water in Detroit. Heisman winners Chuck Long, Rodney Peete, one other black guy whose name I can't remember...I think Greg Landry was the last half-decent one.

One of those Philly wins came on a kick-off runback at the end of the game. McNabb was terrible in that game against the Giants. Special teams won that game, no thanks to McNabb.

I have no idea, I figured the poster was obviously racist, I just through in the homophobe thingy for added obsurdity.
Insert your favorite label and join in, it's fun!
In case my winning personality and cunning wit do not come across here, I am just kidding, trying to make a bigger point that the facts seem to confirm what Rush said about this guy in the first place.

Detroit does seem to have a problem developing quarterbacks. I'm not enough of an expert to say what it is exactly, but I think it has to do with putting too much pressure on them too early.
But I think the biggest problem with Detroit is the owner. Think about it....what's been the only constant? Coaches have come and gone. We had the best running back ever for 9 seasons and could only manage to win one playoff game. I think the Ford's don't give a crap. The Lions are a big write off for them. Just my opinion and not based in any kind of fact.

McNabb has been in the league 5 seasons. This is Harrington's first full year as a starter. McNabb has had time to show his "potential". Harrington is still essentially unproven. Harrington has a bad record, but it's only because Detroit sucks as a team. Dropped passes and a non-existent run game don't exactly make a quarterback look good.Harrington is essentially in his second season. He started 12 games last season. His rating as a first year QB was lower than McNabb's first year and he is halfway to being well below McNabb's second year rating. And yes, the Lions suck, Harrington is an example of why not the exception.
I never said that McNabb wasn't over-rated or over-hyped, but professional sports are filled with that, regardless of color. Whatever they can do to sell tickets and advertising they do, whatever drama and feel good stories they can tell, they do.

Rush's point was never that McNabb was a lousy quarterback. His point was that McNabb was a single contributor to a balanced, talented team that's won more games this decade than any other -- and that the media overvalued his contribution on the basis of his race.
Whatever Donovan does this season has no bearing on the merits of Rush's statement. The seven games the Eagles played without McNabb in 2002 (when the team went 6-1)proved the veracity of Rush's thesis already.

Hey, Joey isn't great, but the Lions receivers suck way more than Joey.

Culpepper stinks too. Ferrote should be in there. Daunte looked lost last week.

In fact, Philly won that game on a botched special teams playIt wasn't a botched play at all. The Eagles special teams put pressure on Jeff Feagles, preventing him from kicking away from Brian Westbrook. Westbrook just showed why they wanted to kick away from him in the first place.
What Westbrook did was no fluke. He just flat out beat the Giants coverage teams. He's been beating people for long touchdown runs all season, so far. He's the biggest reason the Eagles are 4-3 instead of 1-6.

Oh, they aren't that bad. They just can't catch a football.....
Time for Hakim, Ricks, and most of all Bill Schroeder to be released.

That would be the great Andre Ware. Heisman Winner.
Then there are the great winners of years passed. Eric Hipple, Charlie Batch, and we certaintly can not forget Scott Mitchell.

You're right. The problem IS the owner. The Fords for two long have been calling all the shots. Joey was drafted because the Fords wanted another Heisman quality QB. It will be interesting to see how Mooch will be able to coach (and field) a decent team with the Fords breathing over his shoulder. One things for sure, Matt Millen's gotta go. 6-33 in three years??? Come on.
Detroit has talent but no will. A coach can only provide so much. I say Mooch should start cutting people, beginning with Bill 'I can't catch anything' Schroeder and Az "I've lost at least five steps and my spine' Hakim. Too bad Rogers got hurt. He showed a lot of potential for a young receiver. When does 'wait until next year get old'? Never if you're a Lions fan. Thank God I have my SPARTANS!!!!

HAHAHA! See my post 55! Yeah, Ricks is worhtless as well. I say cut the old meat and bring up Kircus and give him a shot. He couldn't possibly be any worse.

It was a botched play. Feagles hadn't even been instructed to kick the ball away from Westbrook -- in fact, he should have been instructed to kick the damn ball out of bounds even if he only got it 25 yards downfield. If I'm the Giants coach and I'm facing a quarterback who's got a total of 64 yards passing for the first 59 minutes of the game, I'll gladly give him the ball on his own 40 yard line with a minute left on the clock.

Erik Krammer, Chuck Long, Ty Detmer (Good Lord no!), Gus Ferrotte, and of course Gary Danielson.

Fassel said they intended to kick it away, but Feagles couldn't angle the kick because the Eagles were right on top of him.
Ah well... you say they botched it, I say Westy broke it. I suppose it's a matter of perspective.
