Only if nature causes the fire.
I still find it hard to believe they would have started the fires.

"Big fires in Spain earlier this year. Funny how that would happen to an ally." Far be it from me to take the gas out of your bag, but they had even bigger fires in France.

Now, is it ELF or AQ, or both? ELF is a branch of the AQ, just like the Democratic Politicians and most of the Media, and most of Hollywierd.

I saw a report somewhere yesterday that said a hunter had set a signal fire. Is this what they are terming "intentional"?

Nope but MSNBC has laid the blame squarely at the feet of a HUNTER. Quote: (referring to the deadly Cedar Fire in San Diego) The fire was ignited Saturday near the mountain town of Julian when a lost hunter set off a signal fire, authorities said. The hunter was detained and may face charges.

I saw a report somewhere yesterday that said a hunter had set a signal fire. I saw that report too. Could be true. On the other hand, it could be a cover story.

But one implication is that just because no group has 'taken credit' so far for the California wildfires doesn't mean that one won't take credit for it eventually.Of course, that's true - and the odds of terrorist involvement rise exponentially in the event that a terrorist group does 'claim' the act. Until such time, the odds of copycat arsonists is much, much higher.
Y'all are missing the obvious nexus, however. The massive Sydney brush fires earlier this year might've seemed perfectly routine (they're a near-annual event), and there were even some kids convicted for a few of them, but Australia was an ally in the Iraq war! Australians were also the primary target in Bali.. ;^)

If I were a terrorist wanting to set a fire, I might make sure I did it in such a way that I would have a cover story like that available if I got caught.

The Republic reported that the detainee, who was not identified, said the plan involved three or four people setting wildfires using timed devices in Colorado, Montana, Utah and Wyoming that would detonate in forests and grasslands after the operatives had left the country. That strikes me as a pretty lame terrorist plot.
Even if they successfully started some large fires that destroyed a lot of property, it's going to be written off as natural disasters and fail to add to their "fear the terrorists" goals.
And even if they take credit -- something they apparently did *not* want to do with their other attacks, for some reason -- a forest fire just doesn't have the "threat at any place, at any time, without warning" quality that an effective terrorist event has. Just how many people live somewhere that a forest fire can cause trouble? And there's *days* of warning when a fire is headed your way.

Only if nature causes the fire.
They consider themselves "nature". Does "nature" grow spikes in trees?
I still find it hard to believe they would have started the fires.
Why? They have torched car dealers and housing projects recently. These fires have destroyed hundreds of homes!
To: Catspaw
They all have the same goal: the destruction of Western civilization.

Now, is it ELF or AQ, or both? Could be both. They both want to distroy civilization.
An alliance between groups such as these has always been a worry.

But the spikes don't kill the trees.
Even in that example, their main target is people, not Nature.

I think simple arson is more likely, but I'm not jumping to any conclusions. I was just pointing out that many conclusions about John Muhammad were also premature.

For more semi-paranoid speculation (my Tin Foil Hat moment) go here-
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1009175/posts You have to admit, an awful lot of these fires are listed as arson. The mystery is- What is the motivation? Could be your garden variety nut case, AlQueda, or something else......
