The Life of Muhammad (The flight of the moonbats.)

You learn something every day, don’t you? I did, yesterday. The wife’s mother passed away not long ago and Myrtle and I finally got around to packing up her things to give to charity. She used to read a lot. I suppose that’s where I got it from, I’ve always got my nose in a book. History is what I like. That’s why I kept The Life of Muhammad , written by The Rev. C. Sell. Myrtle’s Mum must have had it for ages, the binding is a mess and no wonder, it was printed in 1913. I stayed up half the night to read it.

First of all, I think what Sell had to say, way back then, is interesting, because he quotes from ancient Arabic sources all the way through and there are so many footnotes, including in Arabic script, that he must have done an awful lot of research. I also noticed that Sell was a Fellow of the University of Madras, who wrote nine other books on the subject of Islam.

I’m no great scholar myself, but for the life of me, I can’t understand why anyone on earth would call this business of Islam a religion — not after what I just read. Right from the start, that strange fellow Muhammad was a worry. Did you know he used to have fits? It was said ‘he was destined for great things’ when he was young because, as we know, they didn’t understand mental illnesses then. When he was ‘indisposed’, for example, his nurse always placed him into a darkened room and covered him with scented, wet cloths until he felt better. And he heard voices. In his head.

His mother didn’t have much time for him either. She gave him back to his wet-nurse to care for when he was only two years old and then she died, so he never saw her again. His uncle looked after him for a while, but he died too, and left him an orphan to live in the streets.

We all know, don’t we, how important those early years are and how young people can fall under bad influences. This young fellow ended up with the beggars on the steps of a temple somewhere — I think they worshipped a moon god then — and they annoyed everyone else because they were loud and dirty, so they were often driven out by the folk of the town. But they always came back.

There were a lot of Hebrew people living in the area and he listened to them. Somehow, he must have picked up on the idea of a more powerful god than the moon god and that black stone they worshipped. And they had idols, way back then. He soaked up everything he heard and started to preach, which made the townsfolk even more angry.

Now it seems he heard about Jesus, too. And his mother, and the holy ghost. And all the prophets in the Old Testament. So he took a bit of this and a bit of that and hashed it all together and that made him a prophet, right? And prophets need followers. He had nine to start with. They hung onto every word he said. But he needed more than that, to prove how his messages were coming from a ‘divine’ source, so he would go to a cave somewhere nearby and listen to the words of some archangel. Frankly, I think he was listening to himself. But it worked. Everything was suddenly from a ‘divine source’ and he had it made.

Quote:

I’ll leave you with the Rev. Canon Sell’s final words: “Muhammad thus stands out as unique, amongst the founders of those religions which prevail at the present time amongst large populations, as the one who established his position by force of arms; and by claiming divine authority for so doing, has made such a procedure a sacred law, when circumstances allow of it, for all lands and all time.”

(How could anyone think it was possible to negotiate peace?)

For the West it's fight or be destroyed, and the devil take the hindermost.

Islam is mainly a religion of peace in that you either shut your mouth and obey, or you're dead--which makes for a lot of peace & quiet.

From the article "...Islam is a religion of peace must take the cake for the biggest lie ever told."

I wish W would figure this out. I don't expect him to come out and say we're at war with Islam, which we're really not. But I'm sick of hearing his politically correct Religion of Peace BS, and it very much disturbed me that he felt he had to "distance" himself from Boykin's remarks. I tell you, we'll all be Boykins soon enough if the murderous Muslims don't get a clue.

I have no intention of living under the hegemoney of Islam. And some of these liberals, especially Jewish liberals need to get wise to this stuff too.

Great find quid.

re: your reply #5 ("... wish W would figure this out...")

maybe he does. Maybe being the leader of the most powerful nation on earth that is founded on principles of fairness and justice, he feels compelled to at least give what voices of moderation might yet exist within Islam one more opportunity to wise up and get their religion and culture out of their own medieval darkness. There is no need and no gain from telling Islam and world that they can never defeat us and that we will destroy them if they persist in their current modes... and can anyone doubt that We the People could not completely vanquish them if we put our minds and complete energies to it? I also ask you the following - if we are then so strong as to be invincible (relative to this threat from murderous vermin who hijack a religion) as to be able to destroy them at will, are we not then strong enough to simultaneously offer them a way out of their self-constructed tunnel of darkness (while patiently but inevitably defeating them)?

This is not a novel concept, nor is it spin... historically, look at what we have done with those enemies whom we have defeated, starting with how we treated the south from the civil war, to the way we rebuilt our enemies from world war II, even to the current day where we try to develop a basis of cooperation with the Russians. If anything, America has consistently shown that the best way to win a war is to make sure you don't have to fight it again once you've beaten your foe... but destroy him completely nonetheless if he proves to not be capable of accepting defeat.

Time will tell whether fundamentalist Islam will recognize that it can never win against any nation whose way of life is based on freedom, and whose sons and daughters are willing to fight for that freedom. But then, time will tell whether Islam can recognize this cancer within itself before it dies from self-consumption.

Remember, there was once a time in our own Christian history when our own kind hacked each other to bits simply because one side thought the other's use of an intercessionary priesthood was antithetical to the understanding of Christ. Islam today is what Islam was back in 632 when their self-professed prophet began his historical march. The only way Islam can survive is if the moderates win.

When George Bush offers his hand in moderation to Islam, I do not scoff at him, nor hold him as being ignorant of what is obviously a crisis within the ranks of that religion. Truly, Islam is in crisis, and if the voices of reason within Islam are not given a chance to rise up and do something about the insanity within their house, then that religion will self-destruct from their own contradictions and horrors.

I can't remember who said the following - Bernard Lewis or Samuel Huntington - but Islam stands in danger of having the suicide bomber become the metaphor that best describes it. President Bush - with the weight of our nation behind him - offers the muslims one last chance to change that.

If they fail to grasp this last chance, and continue on their path of war, then so be it... they will be utterly destroyed. And at that time, History will note that we the object of their hatred offered them one humane chance to change their destiny, and they spurned it by opting to charge over the cliffs like a herd of lemmings.

Seems to fit with the present. Islam is the principle means of gangsters getting control over a population. So it started, so it continues. For those waiting for a reformation, you are guilty of wishful thinking. Take a cue from the Romans; level Mecca as they did Carthage.
