The big fires in AZ were well over 100 miles from me, but we could smell them. Being in a high fire danger area myself, that was very unpleasant. Lost a lot of sleep.

Why was this moved out of Breaking News? This is NOT the same story as the LA County fires, and information is coming in constantly, as it is happening now. Many FReepers are living in the danger zones! :)
Please consider moving it back to Breaking News.

CNN just blithely called them 'brush fires', in a two-minute cursory update. Now back to Wolf Blitzer talking about Bush's failed foreign policy (again).

This could be the biggest natural disaster of 2003. One has to wonder what the dollar figure will be on these fires.
An incredible story unfolding across Southern California.
And your national news media...is basically ignoring it.

I would assume that it has something to do with the lack of visibilty in that it was within a report about the S.Cal fires, but CNN did not expand beyond that.
