This could be the biggest natural disaster of 2003. One has to wonder what the dollar figure will be on these fires.

An incredible story unfolding across Southern California.

And your national news media...is basically ignoring it.

Amazing

And it may not be a natural disaster, it may have been sparked by the Elves.

I'm in Maryland and my ears are glued to the radio feeds from SD and also the San Bernardino area.

As usual, Freepers are WAY ahead of the "news" media. Thousands of people in danger? Ignore them to concentrate on bashing Bush on Iraq. Idiots!

If it is "natural". And I would really wonder why the national media isn't showing the pictures of it. I guess they were so busy covering the protests going on in some places that they didn't have anyone to send to cover the fires?

This could be the biggest natural disaster of 2003. One has to wonder what the dollar figure will be on these fires. ____________________________________________________________ Well maybe someone is keeping a lid on the story until the stock market opens in Asia. Dollar figures would be important to the Insurance (Prop. & Casualty) industry and the lid is about to explode off the pot.

Insurance Prop. & Casualty Sector.

Looking at the big picture, producing panic is what the media does best and what I am suggesting is a financial angle of this story.

Shorting and/or buying puts on insurance companies with California policyholder exposure may be an option tomorrow. Anyway I will watch this sector and see what happens.

This is national news and the people of that region need all the help they can get from surrounding states. Governor Davis should have call out the National Guard yesterday to help assist and protect the public. Where is ARNOLD? Oh, I hear in Lost Vegas pumping iron with old friends.

My guess the California Fires will be hum-ho national news tonight and in your face panic news tomorrow. I share all of your sentiment with the lack of news coverage about this story.
