Why does this thread only have 100-plus hits so far, instead of 1000-plus or 10,000-plus. THE SLIMING OF REAGAN SHOULD OUTRAGE EVERY RED-BLOODED FREEPER, AND WE SHOULD REPORT BATTLE STATIONS PRONTO!

How do we know that these companies are slated, or might be slated, as sponsors? Where did this info come from? I intend to contact the sponsors - but I don't want to waste my time by contacting companies that aren't involved.

Al Rantel said tonight on KABC Los Angeles radio that he discovered that this Reagan movie is being produced by Hallmark Entertainment (as in Hallmark cards, Hallmark Hall of Fame) although he noted they don't list it on their website. As a major greeting card junkie, I'd like to know more about this. If Hallmark is indeed producing it I'll be buying my cards elsewhere and letting Hallmark know. Does anyone know more?

hear is a copy of the letter i sent to Anheuser-Busch .

thanks for this great thread!

This letter is in referance to the "soon to be aired" CBS movie "The Reagans". As a modern consumer, I have enjoyed many of the products marketed by Anheuser-Busch(imabudman) as well as your often humorous commercials. I am a veteran and a proud american. Having served in the military in the early 80's I hold a great respect, fondness and admiration for Pres. Ronald Reagan along with MILLIONS of americans. Without his strenght and leadership the collapse of communism and cold war victory would still be doubtful as well as the freedom enjoyed by millions in eastern europe and elsewhere. i am saddened and angered at the revision of history by those at CBS that wish to twist, slander and corrupt our collective memorys of this still great, yet now defenceless man to whom the entire world owes a debt of gratitude. I urge you to reconsider sponsering or advertising any of your products during this movie. Millions of Americans now look for you to show your true patriot colors and reject this attempt to deface the legacy of a true American hero. Many people, including myself, will begin a boycott of any product or company that wishes to promote themselves or their products during the airing of "The Reagans". This letter is sent in hopes that you will send a message to CBS that the "truth" is best in more than just advertising and withdraw your sponsership of this tragic work of fiction. thank you for your time.

I admit that I have copied a bit from some others, but that is only because what they wrote was good (please take it as a compliment). I am in the process of writing some of these advertisers, but haven't finished yet.

But I wanted to share my letter with everyone in hopes of inspiring even better.

Here it is:

Dear Sirs,

I have heard that Pontiac is sponsoring the CBS movie about Ronald Reagan. I have seen excerpts from the movie and I believe that it is shameless slander. Ronald Reagan was one of the greatest men of the last century. The show is full of misrepresentations, misquotes, and flat-out lies. CBS has made a conscious decision to conspire with the left wing fanatics of Hollywood in an endeavor to attack and rewrite history on one of the greatest presidents of our time, former President Reagan.

If your company is so willing to sponsor such untruthfulness, it makes one wonder how much dishonesty is occurring in your company. It is one thing to lie and make misrepresentations to stockholders, they are the owners of your company. After Enron, this is becoming a common occurrence. My primary concern, is how much you may be covering up from the consumers of your products (i.e., lack of quality, lack of safety, price gouging, etc.). In spite of what others have said in the recent past, character DOES count. And you are judged by the company that you keep (or sponsor). Is this really what Pontiac and their management stands for --- cheap, trashy lies!

If you can’t trust the management of the company that makes a product that you are about to purchase, how can you put any reliance on the product itself. And, if you can’t rely on the product, why buy it --- there is plenty of competing products.

If Pontiac sponsors the movie, I will NEVER purchase your product and I will encourage my friends, family, coworkers, acquaintances, and anyone that I happen to meet and converse with to do the same. American values were built on blood, sweat and sacrifice for the greater good. If Pontiac can’t stand up for American values, then why should any American consumer bother to stand up for (and purchase from) Pontiac.

INTERPRETATION FOR MANAGEMENT: IT MEANS NO PURCHASING FROM PONTIAC --- NO MONEY FOR PONTIAC.

Thank you for your time.

Keep it up!!!!! Let's win one for the gipper!!!

Another suggestion which I've also posted on a similar thread:

Let Drudge know that you'd like to see him continue to run the picture of James Brolin as Reagan and the accompanying stories for the next few weeks. Drudge gets a huge number of hits and people who are still unaware of what's going on might contact CBS to complain.

The source cited for the company list identifies the companies as CBS sponsors NOT necessarily Reagan biopic sponsors. I'm as outraged as anyone about this biopic, but Owl_Eagle needs to clarify whether the companies are indeed biopic sponsors; as his posting stands, it may well be irresponsible slander.

CBS = "See BS"

Perhaps citizens of FreeRepublic common-sense-ville should each pick up a few (or many) shares of Viacom (CBS parent company). There could be a few shareholder-initiated proposals to vote on during the next annual meeting of the stockholders!!

Got this from Monster.com

Dear XXXXX,

We have received several emails similar to yours in regards to the rumor that Monster is sponsoring the movie on Ronald Reagan in November on the CBS Network. It is very important that I send you some clarification about this subject, as there is a great deal of incorrect information circulating about Monster's advertising plans. Monster is not advertising on CBS during the month of November, and has never had plans to do so.

Thank you,

Lisa

Are we sure of the sponsor, or are they bailing?
