Your stores had cleaning crews? Lucky. Down here in Houston, the cleaning products are not allowed to escape from their aisle. There's certainly no such thing as a crew using any. Ick!

Undocumented Worker = Illegal Alien.
Your mind has obviously been polluted with politically correct groupthink, hence your capacity to make rational judgements is hindered.
There are 6 billion people on this planet that might find a better life in the US. Should we let them all in? Should we allow anyone in thru uncontrolled means, i.e., sneaking across the border in the middle of the night? How many billions of dollars should taxpayers fork over to pay the social costs of illegals?
10% of Mexico's citizens currently live in the US. Is it the responsibility of the US to provide a living for the citizens of Mexico? What responsibility does the Mexican Government have to it's citizens? If these illegal aliens were such stellar characters, why are they not working to change their own country from being one of the most the most corrupt 3rd world cesspools into a place they don't have to leave to find work?
Is someone that shows no respect for the laws of this land from day one likely to ever make a good citizen? How many illiterate, non-skilled, non-english speaking, non-tax paying, people should this country tolerate? What does it say to people that have followed the laws and tried to immigrate here legally when we allow illegals to benefit from being in the country when the law-abiding are kept out?
What is the value of citizenship when illegal aliens are allowed to work, live here, go to taxpayer funded schools, benefit from social services, get drivers licenses, vote(!?!)?
Name one example in all of history where a country has become 'multiculturally diverse' thru an invasion of outsiders with no respect for the laws, language, and customs of the land, where that country has benefitted. Just one. Ever.

The operation targeted employees of companies that conduct cleaning services for Wal-Mart, sources told Fox News.Huh. Doubt they looked in our town.
The WalMart is filthy.
Rather than targeting the companies for hiring illegals, perhaps they should target them for not doing their jobs.
Wal Mart is a disgrace.

D*mn these people wanting to work! No punishment is too harsh. (I do not hold the majority view here about undocumented workers. I'm sorry, I just can't.)
from a clear-thinking FR poster yesterday so you can BEGIN to understand:
burglar = undocumented houseguest
car thief = undocumented driver
Or how about this one...
"people voting because they are part of our community" = illegal alien law breakers who can ALTER rightful election results of AMERICAN CITIZENS
Sheesh... what's NOT to understand? Can't understand or simply refuse to?

>>BUT, I guess the real answer to your question depends on whether you are BUILDING the house, or BUYING the house...
Consider the level of craftsmanship (not) being put into these nifty particleboard and stucco McMansions.
Should the plumbing start leaking 5 years after a new house is built?
You get what you pay for.

The individuals picked up in the immigration sweep could face deportation proceedings, sources said. What the heck is it with this "could" stuff? They should be on a plane/bus/train on their way back to where they belong! When will the law enforcers in this country sprout a pair?

"For crips sakes, it's always someone elses fault, right?"
No, the fault should lie with the company that committed the illegal act! If a husband legally buys his wife a gun, then when he is out of the house she uses that gun to shoot the kids, will you blame it on the husband? Would you change your mind and blame him because he was at a bar instead of being at home with his family?
The rest of your post I agree with, if the Feds aren't doing their job, then what is the point in paying our taxes? Of course they stopped doing their job a long time ago with the first baby steps to erode the constitution.

What wage would they be willing to work for? If minimum wage didn't exist would they work for something less than minimum? If so, then the government intrusion into the market is as much to blame. If not, then their expectations could be to high.

Amazing that they missed Florida. Of course they would need a Marine Division to arrest all of the illegals working at Wally world's down here.

Why are you setting up that argument?
My kids need jobs. They are willing to work at Walmart for the prevailing wage. Walmart did not hire them, but hired illegals. I do not argue strawmen.
You mean then, that Walmart not only violated immigration laws, but is also paying them less than citizens under the table? Or are the illegals getting the minimum wage.
In any event. The kids need jobs. Not the illegals who need to stay in their country and work to improve it.

"I do not hold the majority view"You don't believe in enforcing immigration laws and labor laws? You approve of those who violate our national borders, flaunt our laws and abuse our hospitality? You think it's right that those who enter legally and wait their turn must take a backseat to those who don't? You don't think it's a problem that 11 million people have come into our country illegally and are draining the local resources of so many communities? In health care, in education, in law enforcement?
Oh, that's right. I forgot -- "they take the jobs that nobody else wants." Try this in any other country in the world and see what happens to you. Mexico? They'll lock you up and throw away the key -- unless you grease their palms lavishly. East European countries? You don't even want to know what they would do with you there.

Look, Walmart is no different than TJ MAX. Walmart has an army of attorneys that are suppose to research and investigate their contractors before they ever contract to them. That is walmarts responsibility to know who they are contracting to. Do they not ask any questions or learn about who they are contracting to? LOL! They are not innocent here. They are as guilty as TJ Max and the rest of these employers that want to pay third world wages...
TJ Maxx, work force under fire (worried about illegal immigrants)
Times Leader (Wilkes-Barre, PA) ^ | 8/19/03 | MARK SCARAMASTRO and MICHAEL McNARNEY
More than 40 township residents, many applauding speakers critical of what they believe is a largely Hispanic work force at the new TJ Maxx warehouse, jammed Monday night's meeting of the township supervisors. Police Chief Stephen Rinaldi - out of uniform but sitting at the supervisors table - told residents and township officials not to talk about the topic.
"Don't bring the immigrants up," Rinaldi told Tom Szumski of Boston Street, who had signed up at the start of the meeting to talk about TJ Maxx.
"Why not?" a lady in the back row shot back.
"I can't divulge the information," Rinaldi said. "It's being taken care of." Rinaldi offered to tell the lady in secret, after the meeting, what was happening.
But that didn't stop Szumski, Supervisor Anthony Attardo and others from speaking out.
Szumski was concerned that illegal aliens were working at the warehouse, in the Grimes Industrial Park, and asked supervisors to call the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service to make sure workers were in the country legally.
Szumski said he owned a contracting business in California for years but was put out of business by competition hiring illegal aliens as cheap labor. He doesn't want to see the area "overrun" by illegal immigrants, he said.
"They're not going to be paying any taxes, and they're going to be getting everything for free," Szumski said. "Where do you think they are coming from, Minnesota?"
Attardo proposed a resolution endorsing strict enforcement of immigration laws in the township, but it was not acted upon. He also wants Sen. Arlen Specter, R-Philadelphia, and U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum, R-Pittsburgh, to help open an INS office in the Wilkes-Barre area.
The 1-million-square-foot TJ Maxx warehouse employs about 500 and is in a Keystone Opportunity Zone that exempts the company from most taxes. All the township sees from the operation, Attardo said, is $5 per year, per employee, or about $2,500.
"We made a big mistake when we zoned the property KOZ," Attardo said.
Attardo said that when a Scranton lawyer representing TJ Maxx approached the supervisors two years ago, the township was promised that TJ Maxx would hire local people and pay them $8 to $10 an hour for general labor and $14 to $16 an hour for supervisors. There was also to be a 50-cent raise after six months and full medical benefits after 90 days.
TJ Maxx pays $6.50 an hour and almost no local residents work there, Attardo said.
"We were lied to," Attardo said.

So very true. In Central Texas, that is all there is in the construction industry. The question for all of us is whether the cheaper price on the house is worth looking the other way on illegal immigration. I'm not sure even that is true. San Diego has easy access to illegal Mexican labor, yet new houses are in the million dollar range. The price of anything is determined by supply and demand, not the cost of labor. Rather, the cost of labor determines what is possible to produce at a profit. The open borders/trade beneficiaries are not consumers, but corporations, CEOs and shareholders. You could even argue that it is a zero sum game when you look at the tax implications of open borders/trade.

He is trying to say the Walmart blindly contracts to others and does not have a clue about the sub-contractors they hire. BS.....
If your an employer, it's your freaking job to investigate someone you plan on hiring as a subcontractor.....For crying out loud..
Walmart has an army of attorneys, a huge legal department and they don't know who they contract with?

Walmart was not paying these illegals, Walmart did not hire them. They contracted with an agency to assume those responsibilities.
If your children need the work, why don't they start a contract agency that abides the law and offers competitive services to companies like Walmart? In a free market an opportunity always exists. My point is that the intrusions on our free market are making it so the market is no longer available to citizens, it is only free for those willing to break laws. Therefore, government intrusion on the market is one of the causes of this type of problem.
