Thousands of times a year, an abortionist deliberately delivers, feet first, a premature, healthy infant until only the baby's head remains lodged just inside the mother's womb. Then he punctures the base of the baby's skull with 7-inch surgical scissors and suctions out the brain.

If a 2 month premature baby is classified as an infant and doctors fight to save that child, why is a child killed via PBA referred to as merely a fetus?

Has anyone delivered a logically consistant answer to that question.

Boxer will become a poriah after this. Partial birth abortion just cannot be defended and our culture has come to a consensus on this issue.

Boxer, et al are merely pulling out all stops on legacy protection. For what will it say of them if we overturn the laws? That is the selfish motivation of the horrible Democrat party.

If the democrats would back abortion bills restricting abortion, strengthening immigration and our borders while welcoming those who legally immigrate, pound the Islamic Fatwa machinery with Thor's Hammer, support tax reduction, smaller government, self dependence, and sound energy policies they could hold all three branches of government by 2008. Too bad they can't see that.

But, if they did that, they'd be called Republicans.
Democrats are lost, please don't help them find their way now!

I think the true meaning of child vs fetus, in the thinking of the pro-choice crowd, is something like this:

Any child at any stage who is wanted by the mother is a child deserving of protection.

Any child at any stage who is NOT wanted by the mother is just fetal tissue or uterine contents.

The truth hurts. But not as much as surgical scissors through the base of the skull.

Bumb.

IMHO the USA Today does a fine job of presenting balanced reporting.

which I think is superior in the hierarchy of questions, and that is: 'Who owns the child?' It's got to be the mother."

So now we have the pro-death crowd encouraging slavery.

You're giving republicans way too much credit. They talk the talk but they sure don't walk it. RINO's the lot of em in the senate. A few real conservatives in congress.

The democrat party used to stand for all those things I mentioned. That is until they got hijacked and sailed in some twilight zone where the ship is piloted by some evil force the crew just cannot see.

They've morphed into an abomination of special interests over the common good. I really don't care what label one carries. I care more about their convictions. If there were a message from the democrats which was loud and clear, turning our nation in the right direction, so what? It's better than the current RINO theme song. We have republicans who say "vote for me because I'm 10% better than my horrible opponent". Not much of a benchmark if you ask me. It's like having a car lot full of Pintos and Vegas and you must choose one to carry you for the next four years.

When you want to make murder legal you must first de-humanize the victim

Call it a fetus...tissue...or just P.O.C. (product of conception)

The Nazis did it to the Jews and Gypsies and even Christians...

The muslims do it to Jews and Christians

The commies did it in Russia, China, and Cambodia

And Planned Parenthood and their minons do it right here in the good ole USA

God is Watching...and if he doesnt do anything...as someone once said

On judgement day He will have to apologize to Sodom and Gomorahh

The American Holocaust -Over 40 million American Citizens killed since Roe v Wade

On the other hand, I have another position, which I think is superior in the hierarchy of questions, and that is: 'Who owns the child?' It's got to be the mother."

While the question of ownership is superior, the answer is not correct. We can only own that which we can sell, and we cannot sell another human. God owns this child. Children are a gift from God, not to own, but entrusted to us to care for and nurture. If the liberals could only understand this, then the question of abortion would be moot. But this question is beyond their reasoning and they will never be able to answer it correctly.

FDR just never thought his Social Security actuarials would have to factor in the extermination of 40,000,000 workers over only 25 years. That folks, is the Social Security Crisis in a nutshell.

I, too, was surprised to see that this was in USA Today. What is this world coming to? Maybe there's hope, yet!

This is not the view of USA today. It is an op-ed.

From USA Today:

Thursday's debate
Reproductive rights
Abortion-rights activists are pledging an energetic court fight after the Senate's vote Tuesday imposing the first nationwide restrictions on abortion since the U.S. Supreme Court legalized the practice in 1973. We feel that the law is vague enough to criminalize various forms of the "partial-birth" abortion procedure. Our opposition feels that even supporters of abortion rights acknowledge the fact that infants are being killed.

Our view

Oppose

You will notice that this article is under the heading of 'Oppose'.

What is this individual's stand on the 13th Amendment and various legislation outlawing child abuse? Somehow that struck me as a relevant question to ask in light of the justifications offered.

It is astonishing, I think, to consider how different people consider abortion, pregnancy, etc. I know three different couples who are pregnant (that's the way they look at it...BOTH parents are 1/2 of the pregnancy), they all know the gender of the babies, the babies have been named and are discussed just like they were already here, and all have their nurseries decorated. The very thought that any of these nearly-born babies would be subjected to such a horrible end as partial birth abortion is abhorrent!

Me either, but I thought someone should point out that the baby's head is no longer "still in the womb" when this proceedure is performed.
