Former President Bill Clinton says that the Democratic presidential candidates cannot win the White House if voters think they are too far to the left, according to an interview published this week.

"We can't win if people think we're too liberal. But we can't get our own folks out if people think we have no convictions. So the trick is to get them both," Mr. Clinton told the American Prospect, a monthly magazine devoted to political liberalism.

So the Democratic candidates can't win if the votes THINK they are too far to the Left, the real TRICK is to convince them otherwise.

Notice that Clinton didn't say that the Democratic candidates should not be too far to the Left, only that they shouldn't let the voters think they were. The trick is to convince the voters that they are not Leftists, when in fact they really are.

More Clintonian B.S. The Democrats lose elections because they are too far to the Left, and the voters have mostly figured this out. Instead of moving back to the Center, they try to trick the voters on Election Day, and then screw them afterwards.

Back around 1990 there was a report in the local paper here, The Courier Times of Bucks County, which included comments from then-Congressman Peter Kostmayer. Kostmayer had just returned from a DLC meeting down south somewhere and a Courier Times reporter asked him what he had learned.

Kostmayer was practically giddy with excitement.

Paraphrasing, what Kostmayer said was, "The women's groups, the environmentalists, the African-Americans and the rest of the liberal groups who traditionally support us (Democrats) need to just stay quiet and keep a low profile. If we can get Democrats elected, they will get what they want. But we can't have them scaring the mainstream voters. The appearance that Democrats are too liberal is hurting us."

Kostmayer's jaw-dropping candor was a prelude to the culmination of the liberal liar's club scheme - - the ascension of the ultimate liar, DLC chairman Bill Clinton, to the Presidency.

Make no mistake - - what Clinton is talking about in this Washington Times report is the need for the Democrat candidates to lie more effectively and pretend to be mainstream while winking and nodding to the liberal base.

"The public is operationally progressive and rhetorically conservative. The more they believe that you're careful with tax money and responsible in the way you run the programs and require responsibility from citizens, the more the public in general is willing to be liberal in the expenditure of tax money," he said.

This statement proves x42 will never figure out why he was elected:
1. Ross Perot
2. Business cycle dip
3. Babyboomer temper tantrum
4. Big hair, big smile, and bent like Beckham

We can't win if people think we're too liberal.

Here Clinton is admitting that the Democrats by necessity have to deceive the electorate in order to win. This is the essense of liberals. Lie, cheat and steal from America.

The DNC and the NRA are going steady again. The IRA has not been heard of since Bill Clinton admonished the nation about the meaning of IS. NOW, the group who used to dominate covers of Cosmopolitan, has given way to Brittany, a sexy symbol of modern society, and a fairly good mirror of Maryland Monroe, the sexy symbol of the fifties.

Folks, can 57 Chevys be far behind?

Do democrat hear these things? He is flatly telling them to pretend to be centrist, like he did, to get elected! This is all a game to HE WHO MUST BE OBEYED! Whomever can fool the voter the most, wins.

Hmm. Maybe Hitlery will be Clark's running mate. She never said she wouldn't run for VP.

Translation: It don't matter what we believe .. we just have to say what we know the American people want to hear; we just have to convince the idiots we know what's best for them.

I really hope they take Bubba's advice to heart. After he's helped them win twice in a row in the last two elections! ;-)

"We can't win if people think we're too liberal. But we can't get our own folks out if people think we have no convictions. So the trick is to get them both"

What classic Clinton! How revealing! Yet I'm sure Al From and all the DLC/leaders nod in unison to this stuff.

This clinches it: Clark is in the race to take Dean down/out and as a placeholder for Hitlery to step in after all the primary cr*p is over. Bill/Hill don't want to expend any resources on primaries -- and even if there are requirements for "signing up" that she will have violated, since when have the Clintons (or Democrats) ever paid any attention to rules or laws that everybody else feels constrained by?

Thanks for posting.

5. Arousal Factor (lip-biting and hand-to-the-chest saying, "I feel your pain!")
6. George Bush did not want a second term and threw the election without looking as if he was throwing the election. imo.

So the plan apparently is to: 1) Lie to the electorate to get yourself elected. 2)Then govern like a lib and lie while you're doing it by calling yourself a moderate. Lies all around.

And that's exactly how Xlinton ran, and won, the White House twice.

That's also why the Great Red Hope is General Clark, because he is the most telegenic candidate, i. e., he has the best chance of projecting an image as something he's not. None of the other leftist candidates can, at least at this point.

After this rather blunt interview, I'm changing my language vis a vis reference to Democrats. I'm callin' 'em leftists from now on, 'cause thats truly what they are. I intend to associate them in people's minds with banana republic guerillas and dictators.
