Jeb Bush Detractors can leave their apologies here.

Posted on 10/21/2003 2:47:00 PM PDT by Pukin Dog

If the moderators will allow this thread, I would like to hear from those with courage enough to admit their mistakes in attacking Governor Jeb Bush, "suggesting that blood would be on his hands", calling him a murderer and worse with no evidence to back up their assaults.

While today is a great day, I would like to know how many people are willing to stand up and admit their wrongs?

Some may think it unnecessary, but I think a pound of flesh is in order, in a single place were we can all see and read about it. Please remove if this is out of bounds, but in all the congradulatory threads, I dont see too many folks willing to suck it up.

I said I was angry with him and I said he had no moral courage.

I stand by that allegation. What he did was go to committee to get the right thing done. Congratulations to him, he has spread the blame about and got the job done.

I'm glad it's done, I'm glad he signed it and I'm glad that Terri will have the feeding tube reinserted.

Being a leader means making the hard choices and doing what is unpopular yourself when everyone else (including the Law) demands you lay off.

He could have sent troopers in 4 days ago and had her removed. He could have done a number of things, none of them "legal". This was not a legal decision, this was a MORAL Decision and he lacked the moral courage to act.

I stand by my comments and I will not apologize.

I was also angry and upset when it seemed that Governor Bush had given up. I kept emailing him with pleas to do something to save Terri. I have also sent him "thank yous" because now I realize he really was working to help her. My prayers are still with Terri and her family, and I hope she is being guarded by those who love her!

Your post, though appropriate under your handle, seems unsuited to FR.

Jeb, I doubted you. I apologize. You're a real man, a real hero today. Thank you doing everything you could, as you promised you would.

I'm going to avoid getting into any more arguments on the matter, and I dont mind differing opinions either. All I will say is that while everyone here wanted Bush to act, there were those who could hope, pray, write letters and more WITHOUT suggesting that the Governor was a spineless cretin or worse.

My position is that those comments hurt Conservatives and justify some claims from the left. I read things that one could expect to see on a Leftist web site; things that made me consider whether or not I should be here myself. I understand from some posts last week that there are plenty of sites for the zealots among us with all the answers, so I wish they would go there, and leave this place to reasonable people.

I stand by my comments and I will not apologize.

It appears to me that all the other possible Jeb solutions would end up being pissing contests between Jeb and the courts. The current solution using both the legislative and the executive branch is much more likely to work in the long run. Just MHO.

There is more pride, respect and honor in my handle than you could ever know. I would do my homework before spouting off to a present, former or future Pukin Dog.

Yeah, that would have been brilliant. Do you think that the legislators would ever have touched Terry's bill if Bush had done that? It might have made you feel good for a day or so but Terry would have ended up dead.

Have to admit, I feel a little silly knowing my family's 6 envelopes of Jello probably landed on Jeb's desk today:) I just had to do SOMETHING!!! I did go to the Hospice and signed the recall petition on Judge Greer, and sent him an email telling him how delighted I was to do that, and that I tried to sign twice and they wouldn't let me. Now we just have to pray for her to get better. Nice job, everybody...

I never called Jeb a murder or said he would have blood on his hands. I did think political pressure needed to be put upon him to let him know how his based felt. So, no I don't appologize for that.

I believe that if we had not seen so much pressure upon Jeb this would be a different story. Saying that, I agreed with others on the seperation of powers issue. I just thought Jeb could find another way, or get the right people in line to help him out.

I think everyone had a hand in this, and I think alot of pressure needed to be applied to a lot of different places.

I did believe the Thomas Law Center Letter gave Jeb the ability to act. SO you believed otherwise, now you think I , and others like me ,should be humiliated for those beliefs?

I sent out over 300 e-mails messages, and have been up for almost a week now, following this closely, and trying to set the media straight, and you .. what did you do to help make this change in out society? What did you do to save Terris life, and how did you make people sit up and notice the culture of death that the liberals have permeated our society with?

I never called Jeb a murder or said he would have blood on his hands.

Have you considered then, that maybe I am not referring to you? Everyone wanted Jeb to act. He did so, but maybe not quick enough for some. That is fair.

What is not fair, were the comments that I reffered to in my post, and it is for those that I created this thread.

Since you are setting up precedent here, will you be as obliging when a liberal governor acts on his own moral convictions and calls out the troops, say, against a church or something similar? (Does Waco ring a bell?)

Oh, you mean the stupid ones who have an insane DEATH-WISH/SUICIDAL URGE. The ones who will stab and stab and stab at a good, decent, God-fearing man and governor? The same ones who keep shooting thier mouths off about not ever again voting for G.W., another God fearing decent man and president?

They make me sick!

The other day, I was informed that I would be going to hell because I stated the obvious: Jeb Bush did not have the authority to intervene in this matter.
