Thank You, God, Florida Senate and Legislators!!!

Thank you, God, Florida Senate and Legislators for passing Terri's bill today!!! As the parent of a disabled son who is 9, I will be elated when I hear that Terri's feeding tube is back in! The only thing that will make me any happier is when I hear that her parents and siblings have custody of her, and that Michael Schiavo and company are going on trial for conspiracy to murder Terri. As some of you may or may not know, Michael Schiavo, Terri's so-called husband has been living with another woman and has children with her. Michael would inherit about 1 million upon Terri's death. That money is Terri's Life Plan medical care money and is supposed to be used to care for Terri. Would anyone want a husband like that to be making their medical decisions? I would certainly hope to God not!

I must say this was best for others. Not best for Terri or the family. Now she's doomed to live out her years here on earth. At least in death she could enter into God's presence.

I had to do something similar with my father in 1995. The family suffers, terri suffers and everyone else feels they did something great to let her vegetate. God had nothing to do with this decision.

Absent from the body, present with the Lord.

It's not passed yet.

Article from the St. Petersburg times:

Senate approves Schiavo bill

A 23-15 vote allows Governor Jeb Bush is given the power to step in to restore Terri Schiavo's feeding tube.

By Associated Press

Published October 21, 2003

TALLAHASSEE - The state Senate approved a bill today that gives Gov. Jeb Bush the power to order a feeding tube be reinserted in a brain-damaged woman in defiance of courts and her husband.

The bill (SB 35E) now goes to the House, which was waiting for the measure. If the House passes it, Bush has said he will immediately sign it and order a feeding tube reinserted into Terri Schiavo, the subject of one of the nation's longest and most bitter legal battles over care for a disabled person.

Schiavo's parents, Bob and Mary Schindler, want her to live. Her husband, Michael Schiavo, says she would rather die. Schiavo's feeding tube was removed Wednesday. Doctors have said the 39-year-old woman will die within a week to 10 days without nutrition and water.

The House passed the bill 68-23 Monday night. The Senate made changes and sent it back to the House on a 23-15 vote, with most Republicans in favor and most Democrats opposed.

George Felos, attorney for Michael Schiavo, took steps to stop Bush even before the governor received the bill. He filed a request for an injunction if Bush issued an order. Pinellas Circuit Court Judge George Greer planned to hear arguments this afternoon.

The House has already approved all the changes the Senate made. Jeb has signed it.

The House just passed the amended version and Jeb called the House and said he was signing it and sending it to Pinellas County.

I must say this was best for others. Not best for Terri or the family.

Only God and Terri know what was best for Terri. I wonder how you can say it was not best for Terri's family, as they wanted to keep her alive.

The family suffers, terri suffers and everyone else feels they did something great to let her vegetate. God had nothing to do with this decision.

The family has been suffering, and now may have a chance to finally see if Terri can be taken out from under her husband's control. You do not know if she is a 'vegetable' at all. You don't know what GOD had or had not to do with this decision, unless you claim to us all to BE GOD. Are You?

Absent from the body, present with the Lord.

Again, you claim something you know nothing about.

Has everything been done to help rehabilitate this woman? Did they try EVERYTHING possible to help her? I haven't read anywhere that this has been done and before she is given the "left for vegetable" status then she deserves the right to have care based on all the money that was awarded to her "husband" to have this done - If she were my sister, I would certainly move her to someplace like UCLA or the MAYO Clinic that are known for outstanding scientific achievements in research and development for those who are seemingly "hopeless"...

Earlier, it was said that a 2/3 vote was needed in the Senate. This vote 23-15 is not 2/3 but 3/5.

What if Greer tries to block the legislature tonight? Will Bush go forth?

Just saw Kattrack's thread. Glad it's finally passed, but what about that injunction that Greer threatened?
