It occurs to me that CBS might be intentionally creating controversy in an attempt to increase viewership as well as advertising dollars. So, the more powerful protest move would be to find out what advertisers they are lining up to sponsor the program, and then getting the word out to them as well as to CBS that if the movie is a hatchet job (as it appears likely), then the sponsors will get a hatchet in return.

Agreed.

Thanks for the link. Here's what I wrote:
CBS:
I believe in is in poor taste to show a hit piece disguised as a "biography" on somebody who is near death and unable to answer his critics. You should be advised to shelve "The Reagans" or risk substantial negative publicity toward your advertisers. Perhaps they hate Reagan as much as you and don't care about the potential boycotting of their products but they should.
I urge you to reconsider the timing of your actions. If that can't be done, I'd urge to reshoot the film in such a manner as to avoid such literary license as to have your fictional Reagan flatly condemning AIDS patients when there is no proof he uttered such statements.
Sincerely,
(Tall Texan)

Very good idea. The writer is already saying he made up the controversial AIDs statement the movie has Reagan saying.

Here's the feedback I submitted:
I understand CBS is working on a movie about President Ronald Reagan. When I heard that the role of President Reagan will be played by James Brolin-Streisand, I was somewhat taken aback. Knowing the political leanings of Ms Streisand and Mr Brolin, it is hard to imagine his portrayal of President Reagan in a fair or positive way.
I truly hope that CBS will not make this movie into a political hit piece that attempts to demean or ridicule the President who won the Cold War, and the President who began the economic growth that aside from a brief tax-increase-induced recession continued over a decade after his presidency ended.

Exactly.
If we're true Capitalists, we'll hit them were it really counts. Any company that lends its $$$ to discrediting and destroying Ronald Reagan's wonderful legacy will feel the wrath.

Jeez! Why do a TV movie on Reagan, when you have a year long mini(?)series with the Clintons? Rich man, poor man all over again!
To: Az Joe
Can't help you Joe. I haven't watched CBS, or allowed them into my home, since the mid 1980s.

They're not going to drop the movie after investing all this time and money to make it. The best way to protest it is to simply ignore it.

Email CBS and let them know that you think they are scum bags and Anti-American for making a Liberal movie against our great President Reagan. CBS is truly a joke.
To: jpl
I disagree. If enough noise is made the sponsers will get nervous and run.
