Can you, as a defender of the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, support the Patriot Act, and the fact that under its provisions, at least three of your fellow citizens are today incarcerated without charge, without access to counsel, with no prospect of a trial and release all this in violation of the Fourth, Fifth, Sixth and Eighth articles of the Bill of Rights?Padilla is the only one I am uneasy with. That's one. I am not scared of the Patriot Act under Bush. I am scared of who might be next in the White House with this power, and I don't mean a republican.
Can you support an Administration that assumed power through election fraud, the disfranchisement of thousands of our fellow citizens, the violent disruption of official vote counting, and an arbitrary and incoherent ruling by five partisan judges?
There was no fraud, no disenfranchised voters, no violent (?!) disruption of vote counting. In fact, what are you talking about?
Can you, as an opponent of foreign entanglements support a war of aggression, launched under demonstrably false pretenses, and provoking a world-wide hostility toward the United States administration?
Oh whatever. Yeah, everyone loved us before September 11 and the Iraq War, which was not launched under false pretenses. Much has been found in Iraq. You should actually read the Kay report, not just rely on hearsay you find on the internet. Sigh. Listen, there was world-wide hostility before the Iraq War. Remember something on September 11, 2001? Rememeber the USS Cole? Khobar Towers? Mogadishu? Achilles Laurel? The plane that blew up over Lockerbie, Scotland? Iranian hostages?
Can you, as a conservative, sanction a federal deficit this year of half a trillion dollars and several trillion dollars over the next several years, causing an unbearable financial burden upon the generations that follow?
I can think of many spending items to cut, not the least of which is NPR, PBS, and NEA. Talk to me when some of the BS is cut.
If conservatives believe in limited government, then can you, as a conservative, accept without protest, government surveillance of your book purchases and your e-mail? Is it the business of the government to interfere with a womans control over her own body?
I'm assuming you meant to put the first part of this statement under the Patriot Act one above. Do you really think you are so important the gov't is watching you? Mmm-hmm. As for women's issues, what about the murder of unborn babies, they don't have anyone protecting them. Why don't you worry about the children?
Conservatives uphold the rule of law. Can you then condone the arbitrary violation of laws by the President and members of his administration including the Presidential Records Act, the Freedom of Information Act, the law forbidding the outing of covert CIA agents and organizations?
Can you actually tell me a law the Bush Administration has broken, or is it just what you think they have done. DO you have some type of evidence they "outed" a covert CIA agent?
Conservatives insist upon responsibility and accountability. Can you then allow exceptions by such well-placed individuals such as Ken Lay, Dick Cheney and Karl Rove?
Sneaky, putting Ken Lay in there with Rove and Cheney. Lumping them all together, huh? Oh, BTW, didn't Lay spend a few nights and give a little money to Clinton, all the while cooking his books? Can you say "I did not have sex with that woman"? Don't talk to me about personal responsibility now, its a tad bit hypocritical. And what responsibility and accountability do you want Rove and Cheney to lay claim to, what is it they have supposedly done?
As a conservative who believes in free markets and free enterprise, are you not concerned about the growth of monopolistic cartels and conglomerates which stifle and absorb competitors (e.g., Microsoft). Are you troubled by the fact that virtually all broadcast media in the United States is owned and controlled by six corporations, and that the corporation-friendly Federal Communications Commission has ruled in favor of still greater media market concentration? Are you aware of the devastation that WalMart has caused to small town business throughout the country?
While I do lament the loss of smaller businesses, competition is a b!tch. Microsoft is getting competition, heard of Linux? The government does not need to interfer with capitalism, it will work itself out. And, heard of the internet? Ooooo, you mean six CEO's are controlling everything I know? Yeah, and here's a tinfoil hat for you.
The thing I AM worried about is the following: growing government, wasteful spending, the abolishing of family values at the hands of the supreme court who is busy rewritting the Constitution to fit their agenda, the sissification of America, lax border security, and idiots like you running off at the mouth.

Im glad you found an access point,
To spread your stupid lies.
Youd see the world more clearly if,
Youd open up your eyes.
Your brain is numb from sniffing glue,
You ought to take a nap.
The Viking Kitties will arrive,
They will not take your crap.
Such fun it is to watch you toast,
We like to see your lot.
Come in and chant your stupid chant,
Look out here comes the ZOT.

Click on the history link to see the mental excrement that "faking flatulence" posted. It's pretty much a literary equivalent of when someone thinks he's going to pass gas, but squirts instead.

That's progressivism. Progressing towards the absolute domination of the many by the few at any cost. All for their own good, of course. Just finished watching the new DVD "Piglet's Big Movie" with my grandson. Highly recommended, btw. While watching the various characters, I couldn't help but wonder if Rabbit is the stereotypical Liberal. He's arrogant, stubborn about his viewpoints, and continually frustrated by the supposed ignorance of his less enlightened friends. Of course, unlike Rabbit, Liberals never admit when they're wrong...

The resemblance is uncanny.
Good thing rabbit isn't in charge of the "100 acre wood". Christopher Robin wouldn't be allowed to play there anymore (too dangerous), and Pooh's honey stash would be "fairly" distributed among the other characters until no one had any honey. I can't decide if Piglet would be executed for dissention, or kept around as a victim for being vertically-challenged. I suppose owl would initially support Rabbit, assuming he would be part of the ruling elite, but would then also be executed once Rabbit siezed control after the "revolution".
The only real beneficiary would be the bees, as Pooh would no longer have any incentive to acquire honey (and rightly so, exploiting the worker bees as he is).
It's too bad this fantasy rambling is so close to the reality that "progressives" would espouse.
