MANSFIELD -- Thirty years ago tonight, strange things were happening in the skies over north central Ohio.
A close encounter in Mansfield, that has since become known as "The Coyne Incident," is still raising eyebrows among believers and UFO investigators.

Not true. Even 50 years ago there was physical evidence. I'll direct you to the case of Officer Loni Zamora in New Mexico. Besides his witnesseing the craft firsthand, there was physical evidence left behind of a landing (indentations, burns), and independent witnesses in a neighboring town who saw the vehicle in flight.
In the case of UFO's there is evidence. It may not be "dead corpse" evidence, but the photographic, physical trace and witness testimony shows a preponderance (in legal terms) towards the phenomena having a nutzenboltz reality behind it. One deserving further scrutiny and study, rather than sneering dismissal.
No evidence, huh? You have no physical evidence but I am ignorant.
I'd hate to be those other security officers who were incapable of telling the difference between a cruiser with all it's flashers going, and an airborne object coming out of the sky and moving through the trees.
I saw something unexplainable at an air show in Europe not so many years ago. I didn't dare tell anyone about it, and something made me not point it out to others who were busy watching MIGs and Hornets go through their maneuvers.
But the Russians were there, the Yanks, the Brits... so who would be snooping from above?
Anyway, nobody really saw anything. Not even the military watching the show. That is until they developed the film that they were shooting. They clearly saw a disk shaped ufo similar to ones seen at other air shows around the world. All I saw was a black dot suspended very high in the sky in the clouds. There were well over 100,000 people at this particular event.
This would actually correspond with the device described by Bob Lazar, which he said produced a black dot, and in accordance with the laws of physics - if you controlled gravity, you could bend light - and make the craft invisible to a person on the ground.
Well, anyway, I don't think or talk much about it. But it does make me wonder. I felt a lot better when I saw that the photos taken by the military appeared in the German science magazine "Focus". Then I told my wife.
She thought I was nuts. Now I'm telling you.
If people have evidence in their body, couldn't you remove it and stick it in my face and say "Explain this, fat boy"? I would think so.
The thing was huge, quite manueverable, the picture quality pretty good, and unlike any blimp/rocket/aircraft in either the U.S. or Soviet arsenal.
No one can explain it.
And a magician made the Space Shuttle dissappear outdoors right in front of an audiance. Did the same to Diamond Head to. Admittedly done with mirrors and projectors. I don't think it would be any harder to do a UFO Hoax. IMO a lot smarter to make the Space Shuttle dissapear in front of a paying audiance.
I would think my trusted relative has not been taking his medication.
I have always been somewhat of a comic. So, whenever I tell anyone what I saw, they never take me seriously. I will never forget it, as long as, I live.
It was 3AM and I had just left my fiance' house. I had nothing to drink, although, I was a lush in those days. It was extremely cold out. Like about 3 degrees. The highway I was on, was deserted. It was late and there were no cars, other than mine. It was about 20 miles to the next town. I could see something ahead of me(looked like about a mile away), moving and it was like it was illuminated. The closer I got, the harder my heart beat. I could see now there were 2 of them. I guess what made them so unusual is that the suits they had on were highly illuminated, even without light shining on them. I was now right at them. It was a 2 lane highway and I moved to the left lane, since there was no traffic. They were standing to the right side of the road. I thought my heart was going to pound out of my chest, it was beating so hard. As I passed them ,I could see they were only about 4 feet tall. Their suits were as if, they were skin tight. The only opening in the suit was right around their face. Unfortunately, I could not make out what their faces looked like.
One of them was standing with one leg onto the highway and was waving his hands in a circular motion, as if to stop. His hands were in a horizontal position , though. Not quite how a normal person would wave someone over. I still felt like, this is what he wanted.
I was probably going about 90 MPH at the time. I didn't stick around to see what the heck he wanted.
All I know is I have never seen anything like it before. I have often thought, maybe, they were kids. If, they were, they were very young at 4 ft. tall, and what were they doing out, on the highway at this time of the night..
I did not tell anyone about this for about a month later. I didn't think no one would believe me.
I was right.
If you're familiar with the case, you'd see that it would be difficult (albeit not impossible) to do it himself. But the ever skeptical Dr. "it's all swampgas" Hynek investigated it and was thoroughly impressed.
So, too the Air Force:
"There is no doubt that Lonnie Zamora saw an object which left quite an impression on him. There is also no question about Zamora"s reliability. He is a serious police officer, a pillar of his church, and a man well versed in recognizing airborne vehicles in his area. He is puzzled by what he saw, and frankly, so are we. This is the best-documented case on record, and still we have been unable, in spite of thorough investigation, to find the vehicle or other stimulus that scared Zamora to the point of panic." ~ Hector Quintanilla, Jr., Head of the Air Force's Project Bluebook.
