A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997. Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay, or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

The Best Defense: GodluvsAmerica
-- 20 -- Let's Take a Break from Baseball |
Please meet a guy you'd want to be on your side in any political contest: an NFL scout from New York who joined Free Republic in January of 2003 and has already become a very vibrant activist and poster. Although frankly I think he could be honored on grounds of his name alone, GodluvsAmerica, the story of his baby daughter's birth just has to be known. It's sure to become a part of Freeper history.
Join us on the gridiron today!
|
Well, in this sports-infused time of the year, let's hear from a guy who runs his own NFL scouting service on the political playing field: DEFENSE!!! DEFENSE!!! As an NFL scout I realize you win or lose based on the strength of your defense. Being from New York and watching the previous liberal idiot who occupied the White House let our military and intelligence services deteriorate, then watching the events of 9/11 and losing friends in that tragedy puts things into perspective. Makes sense. GodluvsAmerica is the kind of strong and healthy defensive player that you'd want on the frontlines. Forty years young, he trained for the Olympics nearly a decade (track and field/decathlon) and now owns his own business (an NFL scouting service). But read on and you'll see what keeps him young now. |
-- 40 -- Making One for the Team |
GodluvsAmerica has participated in three Freeps since joining Free Republic in January of 2003. His first Freep was most auspicious.
His first Freep was in mid-February of this year in NYC, when he and 30 other Freepers met in 10-degree weather and "we took on nearly 100,000 people who said they were protesting for peace (yet only held signs condemning the United States and President Bush) at the UN.
It got pretty intense at times as we moved to meet our opponents head on and it felt good to finally confront these people I consider cowardly hypocrites. The day ended in a great way for me as one little Freeper couldnt wait any longer and had to rally for America with her dad!! My wife, who was due with our first child on 2/25 but went into labor while I was rallying with other Freepers in NYC. Oh my gosh! He had to rush home from the Freep, and his child Sophia Anne was born on February 12 at 11:56 p.m. that night! GodluvsAmerica indeed.
Way to play the game! What a story he'll have to tell Sophie, huh?
GodluvsAmerica told this story in a live post about the NYC Freep and received almost 8 pages of congratulatory comments!! GodluvsAmerica printed out the comments and put them in his daughter's baby book. Everybody say: "Awwwwwww." |
GodluvsAmerica took to the field just more than a month later, when on March 23 he took part in a Support Our Troops rally in Times Square with 1000 Freepers. It was very emotional; the prior day 100,000 anti-Americans marched down Broadway and berated police protesting the war yet our rally was peaceful, patriotic and just left many feeling great for what we did! Many families of our brave troops fighting to defend our nation were on hand holding up pictures of their loved ones and it is something Ill never forget. Yup. The best defensive players hang in there. They are not one-trick ponies. They've got their head on straight and they're playing the game for all the right reasons. |
-- 40 -- A Hilary Freep-of-One |
GodluvsAmerica did this clever Freep-of-One of Hilary, a self-described "solo mission." I really recommend this thread to you. GodluvsAmerica recounts his witty reparte, including what he said to one purchaser of Hilary's "Marxist manual" who told GodluvsAmerica his Freep was a waste of time: "I replied, 'You're wasting your money' after pointing to the books!" Bravo!
GodluvsAmerica thoroughly enjoyed his Freep: I . . . totally enjoyed it cause it felt like me against the world (though I did have plenty of passerbys who supported me). I felt it was my duty to protest, even if I was solo, as the Clintons feel they are above criticism and want to believe everyone supports them. The best part about it was I caused a stir amongst the people who attended and really got under the skin of Hitlerys people and other liberal groups who witnessed my solo Freep. GodluvsAmerica explains that his Freep proves that one person with a strong opinion can make a difference. Hmm, his hero Ronald Reagan had a sign that said something like that -- that there's not limit to what a man can do if he lets others take the credit -- on his desk in the Oval Office. |
-- 30 -- God Luvs C-SPAN too |
GodluvsAmerica's wonderful presence here also confirms the long-held belief of tgslTakoma of the DC Chapter that the C-SPAN broadcasts of the DC chapter's rallies and spikes in Free Republic membership are not coincidental.
He explains: One Saturday night last January I happened to stumble across a Freep rally taking place in Washington DC on C-Span. It was directed against the C.A.N.S.W.E.R. protest taking place that day. I immediately said, "These are my type of people" and signed up that night after seeing a "Free Republic.com" banner on the podium. Ah, it makes my toes cold just thinking about the January 2003 rally, but my heart warm to see proof positive of how many more "attended" the rally via C-Span. |
-- 20 -- Does it feel like you missed something? |
When you saw this thread was about football, did you ever suspect how touchy-feely it was going to get? The thread starts out about football and suddenly we're talking about baby girls.
Im sure He luvs every place else in the world but when He sees a country where His people are not repressed and have the freedom to praise His name in any or all capacities while not be condemned, (unlike the majority of other nations on our planet) Im sure God does luvs America! We're sure we like YOU, GodluvsAmerica! |
-- 10 -- In Which Everyone Says Thanks |
GodluvsAmerica, thank you for coming and thank you for staying and thanks for your great posts and Freeps.
For his part, GodluvsAmerica says thanks you Freepers right back: Freepers are fair and unlike liberals, realize our side is not perfect, so you can rationally disagree with people. Free Republic also gives an outstanding venue for breaking news; to this day youll never find a post or news story like that Saturday when Space Shuttle Columbia tragically went down. And obviously to vent my frustration or opinions on current affairs and/or news. Also the Freepers Ive met on-line and in person are good people. And that's the story. Rather than getting physically ill watching the anti-war movement lie, he has found an avenue to share his pro-troops, pro-Bush, pro-America feelings with others. Here he is, pretty much a perfect fit for us.
Keep the conservative fire burning in you, GodluvsAmerica, and God Bless you, your wife, and little Sophie Anne. You are truly one of . . . |
Freeper's Finest! |

1) Click on the graphic to open the Calendar. 2) Once there you can click on any month and even click to the right to go into next year. Once you are in the month that you joined FR you will need to click on the number in the calendar and then an add item screen will come up. 3) In the next box enter your name in the "Calendar Text" field and then click on submit. 4) If any of the screens fail to load simply click on refresh in your browser and that will usually fix it. 5) If all else fails or simply if you want me to do this for you send me a FReepmail and I will gladly do it for you. ~Mixer

That will come in time. It truly does make a diference in taste if you grind your own. I've used the same electric grinder for about 8 years now. Wish I could say that my coffee pots lasted as long. Get about 2-3 years out of one.

I have a slight fondness for Pennsylvania, T.O...my father was born in Pittsburgh in 1901....moved to Orlando, Florida in 1909, though, and I was born and grew up in Florida.
I've been through Pennsylvania a few times on my way to Rochester, NY, where I lived twice.
Between years there and in Ohio (twice), South Dakota and Fairbanks, Alaska, I'm happy to be away from really cold weather and snow forever.

I don't remember dummies when I was there. They may have added that since I visited. Since I was young, and that place was eerie enough, maybe it was best that wasn't added yet.

ERIE - is defined as the name of a canal, lake, town, etc. Did ya mean EERIE - as in weird - or, mayhap,
AERIE - as in a bird's nest? (variations of that being aery, eyrie, or eyry - but not erie)

Well, well, well. Seems as if Officer Spellgood has deputized Officer X.

"Don't worry, TTM has our own LadyX on patrol now ;)" See, Cal - you did not live in The South long enough.
Surely you then would realize a close cousin such as Miss Whistling Dixie (with sass) could never be admonished by me..:))
'Twould be quite unseemly to do so - - - besides, her mother went to the same college my mother did, practically making them sistahs, as well as the other connection on her father's side...
Nope - can't pick on her.
