From those who know the Clinton's and have at last spoken up, it is Hillary who has the ideology, and it is real with her, downright socialism, with a lot of Marx thrown in. Bill is the good time fella, who likes the power because it helps him with the good times. I agree that she embraces socialist precepts because they are deceptively attractive to the unknowing masses who have been made to feel victimized (for their class, race, gender, physical size, etc.) and now feel envy or even revenge and are demanding, for lack of a better term, "reparations" which flows from all sorts of socialist-inspired programs.
But I see Hillary pursuing a dream of becoming the first U.S. woman president -- which is a shame since there are so many other more eminently qualified role models to choose from when their time comes. To realize her dream, Hillary needs power and money, and the sooner she loses an election, the sooner her mystique (power potential) will vaporize. Go Rudy Giuliani in 2006!!!!!

Democracy is a bad thing, yes. Because a democracy, by it's very nature, quickly turns into Mobocracy. I think the problem a lot of Freepers have is that they confuse "Democracy" with "mob rule." There's no real difference between a constitutional Democracy and a constitutional republic. Or am I missing something?

I'm sorry I missed this yesterday. Eloquently put.
We may sometimes disagree on particular issues, policies, or candidates, but never on the fundamental basis of our Republic and the urgent need to opposed the enemies of liberty.
Not all of the enemies of liberty are Democrats, but all of the Democrats are enemies of liberty!

I agree with the above, except if the GOP renews the AWB, they will NOT get my vote. Period.

It would be impossible for me to state how fervently I agree with your post.
It still amazes me how I, a longtime conservative political junky and hopeless internet addict who spent countless hours on other bulletin boards discussing politics, could not have found this place until mid-2001. I still consider myself a relative newbie, but I am behind you and your efforts 100%. I cannot imagine how anyone could have done a better job here.
Those who complain about this place, IMHO, are spoiled and have long since taken FR for granted.

Dear Mr. Robinson:
You are a delusional idiot.
Your ideas have nothing to do with liberty.
Care to expand on your views? Or just attempting to live up to your nick?

Looks like this is the only comment you've made. What gives?
Why are you calling Jim Robinson a delusional idiot and saying his ideas have nothing to do with liberty?

I am proudly with you. FR kicks ass.
The dems are exactly evil and too stupid to realize it.
God bless you Sir.

Jim, I agree wholeheartedly. Don't forget that the Republican Party has abandoned the Constitution or the idea of making the government smaller. The Republican Party is very comfortable using the government as a money bag to buy votes.

How is it I just now saw this post? If only I could be here 24-7.
I'm in complete agreement with you. I am so thankful for Free Republic- I've been at other conservative forums but they don't compare to FR. I've left them all behind- FR is all I need.

I came to the conclusion several years ago that there is no way this republic can survive if we allow the Democrat Party to maintain control over our government and other institutions. Jim, you're right on track. With the Dems, its all about power and control. Anyone who doubts this should just look at the pattern of some of their most recent machinations: the unconstitutional blocking of judidical nominations in the Senate; re-interpretation of election laws in New Jersey; and demands for selective vote counts in Florida. They are undermining our democracy.

Keep up the good fight, Jim.

I happen to believe that, while some of us may loathe the Democratic party, America is best served by two vigorous political parties which disagree with each other. Not to the point of divisiveness: Jim's post shows no interest in working with Democrats to improve America -- but to the point where we can sit down and think rationally about what each other is saying. Otherwise, we won't be heard, and we can't consider their thinking in making sure our policies are sufficiently robust. America NEEDS us to understand each other. In the same way that businesses improve through strong competition, we need the Democrats. If they go away, we will grow complacent.
Besides, they are not Satan: they are our fellow Americans. And anyone who thinks disagreement originated in this generation hasn't spent enough time reading about the debates and discussion which led to our constitution and its bill of rights.

"I love my country dearly and do not wish to see it destroyed..."
That's it in a nutshell. That is why I refer the right to the left. I'd rather see individuals empowered rather than government. The left trusts no one but themselves; dismissing the electorate for what they think is the common good.
Sad really. For the most part, those on the right seem to have a better understanding of what are politicians are doing in Washington. Our choices seem to empower the individual rather than the government. We tend to use common sense when viewing issues. The left rules with emotion, reality seems to escape them at every turn.
Fortunately, we still have the power to change things. Unfortunately, many good people believe what they are told rather than search for the truth through the lies. It seems many people don't want to know the truth. Just so long as they have their cable TV, SUV, and food on the table, there is nothing wrong in the world. Until that changes, I don't see the left disappearing anytime soon.
Hopefully, we on the right can promote the education of the electorate by challenging the left on every lie they spout and on every self-serving initiative they attempt. The days of taking no action have to end. Maybe if enough of their crap is exposed, they may be forced into extinction. Freerepublic is an excellent example in how we can bring the truth to the forefront.
Thanks Jim.

This is a democratic republic, and was long before party names. Our forefathers had the foresight to make a system of checks and balances. No tyranny of the majority, neither tyranny of the minority. Well, the correct name was constitutional republic with democratically elected representatives, certainly not a pure "democracy". Perhaps you were taught incorrectly. Anyway, avoiding tyranny of the majority or the minority was the goal of the founders and the constitution provides this as long as it is adhered to. Unfortunately, with activist judges, that is not the case. And activist judges are almost exclusively the product of the left.
The Atenians lost their democracy to the Spartans and the Romans lost their republic to Cesear.
Probably not relevent, except that we are on the verge of losing our constitutional republic to the socialist/liberal democrats.
Please stop with this crap we are a republic not a democracy, it offends true historians.
Are we a little testy today? Whether it offends "true" historians or not is of no concern to me - the correct definition of our form of government is not "democracy" despite the fact that publicly funded schools have, over the years, tried to name it that way.
