[history]
TALLAHASSEE, FL -- According to a news release sent by the Terry Schindler-Schiavo Foundation, Florida Speaker Johnnie Byrd will introduce "Terri's Bill" during the special session Monday.
The bill would put an immediate moratorium on all dehydration and starvation deaths in Florida. Meanwhile, supporters of Terri Schiavo showed up Sunday outside a Pinellas Park hospice.
Doctors say Schiavo has been in a vegetative state since complications from a heart attack in 1990. Her husband was granted a court order that her feeding tube be removed, saying his wife wouldn't have wanted to be kept alive.

I agree---I couldn't figure out what the hell she was saying!
Who is this "how many times" harpy?
IF THIS WAS AN ISSUE TEN DAYS AGO, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED IN THE CALL FOR THE SESSION AND IT WOULD HAVE BEEN INCLUDED ON OUR AGENDA.
(I guess Jeb was busy busy busy writing Summer and researching to add it on.)
"How many times" are we going to know better than the Family?
I haven't had the time to look at this case because I wasn't aware it would be on the agenda.
Love how she wants us to respect the "wishes of the Family" after castigating he who pointed out Terri's husband has "moved on" and begun a "family" with another woman.

This Republican says.....in essence.....LIFE trumps the Constitution! I am glad he's defending Terri but apparently the right to life given by one's Creator is no longer self evident.

UH OH ...
he wants a "look at the methods" so that they can do a better job -- "more humane than this" -- next time they hasten the death of the Unwanted.

He's heard all the excuses ...
"let me bottom line it for you ... something very bad will happen, a woman will die if we don't do something"

The Creator may not be mentioned in the section of the FL Constitution he was reading from.
This speaker is asking for support to save Terri's life.
Choosing between slow painful death & LIFE....he chooses LIFE....we must not deny her that right to life!
Vote for Constitution or Vote for her LIFE....He urges this case to open up further discussion...but let's give her LIFE.

This is not the time to debate the constitutionality of this. Let the courts handle that.
Vote your conscience.

I don't believe that when our predecessors crafted this Constitution for the State of Florida, they would have envisioned the technology which has left us with a paradigm of unintended consequences.
We can engage in lengthy debate all night long (tonight just the beginning) ... there are laws we need to clarify.
What is a "life prolonging measure"?
Now the case has arisen where we realize what should have been done. Tonight a night for forgiveness of those errors and the finding of a temporary remedy.
Life or death. Give us time to debate these issues while this individual has a chance to live.
I will stand by our court system to property interpret the actions of this body. That's a debate for another day, not for tonight.
It was represented that scholars found this action constitutional, but choosing this evening between Life and a slow and painful death of starving ... this woman is not being given the opportunity for life-preserving measures like artificial organ ... she's being denied the right to sustenance until she and her God decide her life is over.
If you vote to pre-judge the Constitutionality oif this (and that gives you plenty of cover), you'll have her death on her hands. I'm prepared to give the Governor the opportunity to save her life while we go on debating.
Let this case be the signal to all of the unintended consequences and that WE DO NOT shortshrift the debate because of poor timing, etc. These are decisions that affecdt the lives of Floridians every day.
Vote your CONSCIENCE tonight and remember it's a vote for LIFE.

What God has put together, let no man put asunder.
Husband and wife's decisions should be respected.
But...
We need to take a look at some of the laws we have in FL

Ok, is EVERY freaking one of them going to yap? They need to get the lead out of their tails and vote already. Politicans love to hear themselves talk. I dang sure don't.
To: syriacus
I'm listening. Terri Schindler is dying of thirst and they're flapping their gums. Just sit down and pass the d-----d bill, people.

I got an excellent post from freeper Ethan_Allan on another thread. Everyone take note of it for after this session/bill is resolved.

I still am praying for a miracle for Terri. I read two sentences in this post above, that brought home again how inhumanly cruel and unjust this whole thing is. However, we want to make sure this is stopped in its tracks. Many have already been killed against their will, and there are probably many going through what Terri is going through right now. Hospice Patients Alliance [
http://www.hospicepatients.org ] is doing a lot to expose and bring litigation against the 'hospice' where Terri lies now. They know a lot of the dirt behind this movement. Teaming up with them, as some team up with Henry Lamb, might be one place to start. In fact, it might not be a bad idea to introduce Hospice Patients Alliance and Henry Lamb to each other, because they are fighting against basically the same people, since population control is a major component of the Wildlands Project, which is nothing less than totalitarian control of all the world's resources, and all the world's people.

We've made all sorts of laws that were found to be unconstitutional.
Give this person another chance. To talk with parents.
