Gov. Brian Kemp has set a special election for Tuesday, March 10, 2026, to replace Marjorie Taylor Greene in Georgia’s 14th congressional district.
On Nov. 21, 2025, Greene - who was elected to the northwest Georgia district in 2020 and overwhelmingly re-elected since - said she was resigning over her disillusionment with the nation’s current political climate, stemming from a recent political split with President Donald Trump.
The election will decide who will fill the rest of Greene’s 2026 term.
About an hour after Kemp’s announcement, Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger’s office announced the qualifying dates:
Monday, Jan. 12, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Tuesday, Jan. 13, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Wednesday, Jan. 14, 2026, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The qualifying fee has been set at $5,220.00.
A special runoff election, if needed, has been set for April 7, 2026.
Georgia’s nationally watched midterms in the 2026 primary is May 19, 2026, meaning whoever wins the upcoming special election — and likely runoff — may choose to run again in the primaries and, if victorious, run in November’s general election.

Doubtful; it’s an R+19 district.
She resigns late January meaning 6 weeks with no one in the seat-add 4 more in the event of a ‘likely’ runoff. One California congressman dies and a razor thin margin majority is left.
What’s the matter with these people?
Vote to expel her the day before her retirement date kicks in. A two thirds majority will be possible with 100% democrats voting to do just that. Show her we’re not messing around-won’t happen.
I wonder if she will have made any stock trades that turn a 1000% profit by the time of this special election.
One thing for sure, she will be drawing a congressional pension which she qualified for just days before the left congress, with her new husband in tow.

Fact #1: Zero percent chance that a Democrat wins in this district.
Fact #2: Since there are approximately 136 Republicans who will be splitting the March 10 vote, the seat will remain vacant until after the runoff election in early April because (unless the GOP gets smart and winnows the field somehow) nobody is going to reach the 50% threshold to avoid the runoff.
That runoff could be between two Republicans and zero Democrats, however the Democrats are going all-out (financially) in support of liberal retired “Brigadier General” Shawn Harris, who lost by merely 30 points to MTG in 2024. He spent over $3 million for the privilege of getting his ass stomped in that election and he’s going to do the same thing this time too.
Well let's hope the quality of candidate is a bit better than that standard...
