MIAMI - The Florida Senate race between incumbent Republican Sen. Rick Scott and Democratic challenger Debbie Mucarsel-Powell is set to be one of the most closely watched contests in the 2024 election.
The outcome could significantly influence the balance of power in the U.S. Senate. Republicans currently hold a slim 49-to-47 seat majority, and this election's outcome could tip the balance.
Scott, 71, offers a continuation of conservative, free-market policies, while Mucarsel-Powell, 53, presents a progressive platform focused on healthcare, the environment and social equity.

I thought the governor has more to do with regulating insurance industry. Scott is a US Senator, not directly responsible for state issues.
It is a close race with Scott leading by only 2 points.
“It is a close race with Scott leading by only 2 points.”
RCP has him up 5.
RCP numbers are usually over longer time span.
That 2 point lead is from recent polls, is my understanding.
I would like to see Ads from Scott responding to Powell’s Ads. I have seen no Ads from Scott. Powell is blanketing Fox News with her Ads.
“That 2 point lead is from recent polls, is my understanding.”
The only +two I see is Marist weeks ago
More recent have him + 3, 4, 4, 8
It was not Rick Scott who helped raise the premiums. It was Ron DeSantis. After Surfside fell He had the Florida government get together and pass new laws which hurt all of us. Can’t get an insurance if you don’t get a new roof. The new insurance companies have many regulations that make the premiums go sky high and no one can live here on a fixed income any more. The
Scott will win handily.
U.S. Senator has little to do with FL insurance rates.
” After Surfside fell He had the Florida government get together and pass new laws which hurt all of us.”
What new laws? Ones that require condos maintain safe dwellings?
Good to know, thanks.
That is exactly what I thought too. Rick Scotts opponent is airing Ads blaming the insurance rates on senator Scott. You are informed and know the truth, but I am concerned average voter who sees the Adds will prefer the democrat. The Ad shows a big python snake with Scott’s head.
It would help if Mitch McConnell’s PAC would send Scott some money, but Mitch only cares about GOP that agrees with him, even if it means the Senate stays Communist.
So, I shall now mosey on over to Rick Scott’s campaign site and send ‘im some money, so when I get the inevitable “Well, what did YOU do?” question, I’ll have an answer.
How. stupid. No politician is to blames for rising insurance costs in Florida.
One....property values have tripled in the state. Insurance more than doubled to keep up with the rising values. Again...lot of people are just stupid.
Secondly, three devastating hurricanes drove many insures under water. Again, only stupid people blame the governor for the weather.
.
Bs scott wins by 5- 7 pts
Thank you for being so rude. Don’t ever talk to me again.
Do you live here?
I was on the insurance committee here where I live. I’ve had to do a lot of research and talk to a lot of brokers. Other commenters on here are calling me stupid.
The stupidity of the voting public can never be under estimated.
SeeBS
They just want Scott to buy more ad time.
There are ONE MILLION more registered Republicans than rodents in Fla and this gap grows by the week. She is a failed former House member from South Fla. running with money from Chuckie.
She will ultimately get little support in South Fla from fellow Hispanics and mid and upper Fla knows little about her except that she is dredging up old charges we have already heard and found baseless.
There is not a single statewide rodent elected person here. Do the math.
Ditch Mitch ASAP. Kentucky needs to wake up.
